The place may be small and cramped and the tables wobbly, but the food is excellent and dim lighting romantic. I have had the nachos, slider, and sloppy joe and could not have been happier with how they tasted. For the price, they're pretty decent eats. And my bellini martini hit the spot. It's a great place for a casual dinner with a friend. The waitstaff is nice, but flighty. Would definitely recommend going there for a cheap, unique sandwich.

NYC may be known for small portions, but most "Cheap Eats" lists tend to be of the mom-n-pop variety of good, filling fare. The $8 sandwiches are tasty, and interesting, but are too small to make a plate up. For the same $ go to Mama's Food Shop. Now, that is cheap! and worth it!

This wee place has subtly innovative decor, a caring, subdued waitstaff, and smartypants LES clientele who want 71 Clinton at Lotus Club prices. The chefs here surprise you in beautiful little ways: even a Sunday-morning scramble surprised with sprigs of fresh dill and melty smoked trout. The chairs in the window alcoves are not for the small of ass, and if you sit there you might as well push your table together with your neighbors', they're so close, but everyone here is so interesting you won't mind at all. Perfect for a post-Sunshine Cinema, pre-sex noshie.

I was a bit dissapointed to find out that AKA was just a cafe with cafe grub. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. They did mix a good drink and had some decent wines at reasonable prices.
