Tiny and weird hours but worth it

Tiny place and very weird hours (unless you're on a religious Jewish calendar I suppose) but food is amazing--takes a little while if you're used to burger in thirty seconds kind of stuff but it's worth it, extremely tasty and delicious. Had a "wrap" today, more like cross between a crusty/chewy crepe and thin pizza crust dough, 10x better than anything I've ever had before. Menu's not the most extensive in the city but if you want Middle Eastern food on the UWS and don't mind sitting next to strangers (there's only one table) you can't beat this place (I would eat there every Friday night I was in town if it were open).

Best Syrian on UWS

This little palace for traditional Syrian food will amaze your taste buds. Nothing like this on upper west side. Spices, flavors, food quality is fantastic. The place is a little small so be patient and read informative material hung on the walls. I always get the falafel and have never been disappointed. I also have heard wonders about the chicken shawarma.

The food is fresher then ever and affordable even on my low bugdet. Their shawarma rapped around their own made laffa gives me the taste of real middle-eastern style food. I was just their and the service was excellent. I'd recommend this restaurant to a friend, especially if you need good food 'on the go'.

The portions were tiny and the employees were really rude. The food was expensive and not worth the wait. Wouldn't go back even if the food was for free.

Excellent Food ... To Go

This is a tight, little place that serves a largely Jewish/Israeli clientele. I'm not Jewish or Israeli - I go for the food. My favorite is their flagship: the shawarma made with turkey meat sliced off a vertical spit, gyro-style. Go for the homemade bread (laffa?) option, over plain and little pita. It's one of the best sandwiches in the City. I also like their falafel. Pea soup is delicious. I would try anything here, frankly. Their salad bar is free with some dishes. They give you a little container to use if you are 'to go', which I recommend b/c the place is tiny. You'll wait for your food and the place can get busy, but that first bite makes it worth it.
