Worth The Wait

Although there are a limited amount of tabels tucked into a tight space, the scones are worth trekking across the city for and the food is worth the wait on a Sunday for brunch that lasts until 3pm. You can shop in the small foyer of the restaurant for anything from children's princess costumes to photo albums-grab a muffin or scone while you wait to be seated!

My friends and I had a lovely time here. The menu was extensive and the prices were excellent! This place brought back memories of England.

We ate a lovely brunch Easter Sunday morning. It was empty, which was wonderful! Even so, service was slow. The staff was wonderful to my 5 year old- she got to wear wings, was sprinkled with "fairy dust" (we'll be cleaning glitter off of her scalp for weeks) and was given coloring pages. The poached eggs were wonderful! Crepes were sweet and not too heavy. The scones were fantastic! Overall, we loved our experience, although we wouldn't want to be there when it was busy.

Great Place for Catching Up

I met a friend at the 81st Street location for some afternoon tea and catching up. We each got a pot of tea and two scones (only $10). I got the plain scone and the chocolate scone. They were both delicious. The chocolate scone came out slightly warm so the chocolate in it was slightly melted; definitely a treat! The plain scone was moist and really could be eaten plain (though it tastes great with the jam & cream it is served with). My friend got the pumpkin scone and the blueberry scone. She said they were both tasty--very moist and went well with her tea. (We each ate one scone there and took one home for the next day.) They have quite an extensive tea selection (140+), but our waiter was really helpful in suggesting good ones to go with the scones we picked out. Service was a little slow, but it was nice because we didn't feel rushed. Overall it was a cute place to spend a few hours catching up. It's definitely a girl's spot, but there were families and the wait staff was very attentive to the children there.

I love this place. I meet my friends for brunch every Sunday that I am in town and we love it!! The scones benedict and eggs florentine are the best and so filling that we don't want to eat anymore food for the rest of the day! We have even brought our boyfriends with us and now they love it too.

best red velvet cupcakes

Alice's has cornered the market on red velvet cupcakes. Sadly, much of NY doesn't know about them and continue to buy from places like Magnolia. Alice's cupcakes are the tastiest and freshes in the city. The restaurant is good, not amazing. But the atmosphere is lovely and the service is always fast and friendly. Recommended.
