My husband took me to Amy Ruths so I could enjoy some Chicken and Waffles. Reservations not accepted , so they say, so there's usually a line outside of the front door. When we arrived tables were available, but the host motioned for us to stay outside. A line began to form behind us, yet the host never came outside to greet us. 10minutes go by and a person goes in to alert the host that their party of 4 had arrived. Still never addressing the line of patrons outside, the host opens the front door and tells us to move to the side so the small party can come through. I asked the host how long the wait would be, and inquired about the empty tables, and he said those tables were reserved so we just have to wait. (Large parties are seated upstairs- no reservations for small parties) My husband felt so offended by the host that he made us leave, and insists that I boycott. I am willing to take the occasional mistreatment to enjoy those wonderful waffles, but I guess my husband is right.

I am insulted that I was served such bad food. \ The Mac & Cheese was luke warm, and the cheese looked like it had been re warmed. The short ribs of beef was terrible. The meat was luke warm and the meat smelled and tasted metalic. I order the spare ribs, which were good, but the pork chops were hard, I order the banna pudding, and it was terrible. I was ashamed that I told my daughter about the restaurant. She took me there for a Mother's day gift. She apologized to me and told me that she will take me to another restaurant next week. I would not recommend Amy Ruth Restaurant to anyone. Ms. Amy Ruth would be ashamed of her son for giving his customers this kind of food. I respect Ms. Ruth and my she rest in peace. But to the person who is running her place now. I say shame on you Sir.

My second visit to Amy Ruth's was not as pleasant as the first. A friend and I went for an early Saturday evening dinner and although there was no line and plenty of seating in the main floor dining area, we were ushered upstairs to the second floor "dining" area which has exposed insulation in parts of the ceiling, poor lighting and distastefully hung sheets attempting to separate what I assume was the food preparation area from where we were dining. It was difficult to get the attention of our waiter throughout the meal. Both my friend and I were planning to order additional entrees "to go", but before we were able to do so we were brought our bill by one of the men busing tables. Our original waiter, though still in the area waiting on other customers, never took the time to ask us if we needed anything else or to thank us for our patronage. The kind of service that I would expect at a fast food spot and not a fine restaurant that prides its self on it's, "comfort, cuisine, courtesy and culture." A heartbreaking experience because the food truly is divine.

my family gave a birthday party at Amy Ruth's the food was great price was even better. Service was a little slow but they did the best to make us happy and that was more than we could ask for. I will go back again for a more relaxed dinner with my husband. Best food I've had in a long time takes me back to grandma's cooking

My visit to Amy Ruth's was a delight. The food was delicious and the servings plentiful. I was glad the the food is cooked to order so my meal was hot and my iced tea was great if tasted homemade not from a can.I tried the fried chicken, macaroni & cheese along with collard greens. Everything was tasty without being overpowering.I felt right at home like a Sunday afternoon at Grandma's house.Others in my party tried the chicken & waffles (delicious they said , along iwth the ribs,( fell off the bone) and pork chops that were cleaned to the bone. The place is not fancy and that adds to the appeal.A young gentleman greeted my party at the door and welcomed us in. There was no wait and Amy Ruth's is opened 24 hours.

To someone (like me) who grew up south of the Mason-Dixon, the idea of going out for southern food--in New York City--seemed pretty ridiculous. Until I went to Amy Ruth's. Whether you get the ribs, oxtail, fried fish, anything!!! you'll be a happy (stuffed) camper. Just make sure you save room for dessert. The peach cobbler is a must-have.

I am a true Harlemite which means I a born and raised in Harlem. However, it wasn't until one late night of watching Conan O'Brian did I find out about Amy Ruth's. Now, I had Chicken & Waffles in many places from Harlem to California (Rosco's, 22 West, Well's, etc.), but never has it been as good as Amy Ruth's. Rosco's in California was my favorite before now, respectfully. But thank-you Amy Ruth for bringing Harlem's famous dish back home.
