NY Mag needs to change its review of this restaurant; it is definitely no longer "perennially hip" as it once was back in the early 2000s. It is anything but and the food was absolutely awful and even with the $35 prix fixe was totally overpriced. What a waste of $$$, we will never go back and we totally ruined our Sat. night by going to this horrible place.

I booked my reservation with high expectations based on friends' recommendations. Not sure where to start, but i'll begin by saying the service was slow and inattentive. The decor was shoddy and failed to create the asian mystique the it was going for. The AC was weak and the place had poor ventilation (unforgivable in august). As for the food, it was quite good but extremely expensive. All in all, I would stay away unless you're looking to spend big dollars for small thrills.

We were a table of four. This has to be the noisiest restaurant ever. I have never had to shout so much to my fellow guests, I could not hear anything being said. In the end I gave up, I could not compete with other people in the restaurant. The food was mediocre, nothing more. Do not believe what the waiter tells you about the large portions, each item, supposedly large enough for two to share,..... it is not! I left the restaurant hungry and with a sore throat from the shouting Food was very overpriced. Arrogant staff, rude staff.

Coming from an unpretentious foodie who enjoys anything from a NY slice to foie gras, the food was as horrible as the service....our waitress failed to tell us she was going on her break and completely bailed. Considering that there were a handful of vacant tables, we expected food and service to be impeccable. I can't even imagine what kind of dining experience would result on a busy night (if there is even such a night). The beef dumplings were ok, nothing remarkable. The salad was a horrible medley of mushy textures with the awful combo of calamari and plantain bananas. The main entree of BBQ chicken was a large portion, which tried to compensate for lack of flavor. Our side of green beans were forgotten and came after we were done with our entree. The only decent part of the overpriced meal was the coconut cake for dessert. I've had better and more memorable food from street vendors than this place. Overall, it only takes one awful experience for me NEVER to go back.

We were sat 30 minutes after our reservation, which isn't a huge deal, but I definitely do appreciate being sat on time. Requesting their spiciest cocktail, I ordered the Jalapeno Margarita. What I got was neon green and incredibly sweet, a doppleganger for any drink you would get out of a machine from a Carlos & Charlie's in Cabo San Lucas. Appetizers were fine, but the Cuban BBQ chicken entree was dried out and underseasoned. The sticky rice was entirely too sticky (I know, I know) and the "avocado fruit salsa" was just mediocre guacamole. I went for Restaurant Week, but couldn't possibly imagine paying full price for this place. Definitely overrated and wouldn't consider going back (even though prix fixe menu continues through Feb. 09).

Probably the worst food I've ever been served in Manhattan

I ordered the Calamari salad, beef dumplings, and Honey Rum Pork. The calamari salad was mostly lettuce and unripe fruit sparsly interspersed in the salad -- it didn't seem like a cohesive dish. The dumplings were very good, but were not prepared like their description on the menu. We got steamed dumplings in a soy sauce broth rather than with "coconut rice and mango ponzu". Now for the worst part of the night. We ordered the Honey-rhum Glazed Pot Roast of Pork to share, and this was possibly the worst dish either I or my boyfriend ever had eating out in New York. It was so overcooked and dry that it was basically inedible. It was tough and impossible to chew. Then the waiter went MIA and never asked us how the food was (I bet he knew how bad it was and just didn't want to hear us complain!) He didn't come back until the dinner plates had been cleared and he was bringing us desert. I recommend going to Asia de Cuba only for their [overpriced] drinks and for the club-like atmosphere. Stay away from the food!

Food was amazing, waitress super nice, decor beautiful, drinks amazing... just an overall great place to eat. On the expensive side, but well worth it. Get the coconut dream martini, it's amazing.

The service was great, the atmosphere appealing. The drinks, not bad. But the food horrible. They put out horrific food for a Saturday night and not to mention how pricy it all was. They say you get what you pay for, but not at this restaurant. If you dont care what you are eating, its a great place.

A friend and I went to NYC just to shop and celebrate her birthday. We had visited Asia de Cuba in San Fran and were very intrested in the facility in NYC. The food was awesome and the price was better in NYC then San Fran. What a Trip! We plan to go back to visit this restaurant again, and soak up the decor.

This is the type of place you expect Madonna to walk thru the door. The food and service is fantastic. Portions are large so you can share between two people. A ' Must Do ' for new comers to NYC.
