was invited by a friend of mine for dinner, the waiter was very polite and helpful good knowledge of the menu, food was really great, everything was really nice until that rude greek short manager showed up. he needed the table to sit some other people and despite the fact that our check was close to 700$ (4 people) he was hovering all the time around us looking at us really angry as if it was our mistake we wanted to spend money there, at the end after arguing with the waiter in-front of us(my friend is greek and could understand what he was saying to our waiter, really nasty mouth) they had us move to another table. That never has happened to me in my entire life. As well they train their waiters they should do the same with their managers and have them also wear a tie, that short guy was like a a homeless person with an attitude and an oversized suit. Thanks for the dinning experience greek rude person.

We discovered this restaurant one rainy night a few years ago on a theater trip. Since then we go back every year when we're in New York. You will find everything on the menu delicious - especially the fresh fish. But save room for dessert - our favorites are the Greek yogurt with honey and walnut cake.

Took a party of 9 to impress new business associates with a great food and become a terrible experience which I have never got any where. Wine had arrived after we finished the appetizers which took to get an hour, then took another 45 minutes to place the order for the main dish, which one order was underestimated, small fish had to be split to 3 guests, embracing to say, you suck Avra, you ruined my night. Never again, I could get better service in Astoria.

Since I open the door people wre giving me a bright smile, the service was excellent, the food was really tasting like the goddes food. John our waiter was very aware of the menu and explained everything with perfect knowlegde of the menu. I highly recomended Avra for my next gathering, i can't wait to go back.

The Dover sole was as good and fresh as any in Manhattan. Wonderful octopus and crochet appetizers. Waiters are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Quite crowded, even during weeknights. If you want outdoor dining rather than noisy indoor, make reservations.
