THE WORST NIGHT OF OUR LIVES: The bold men at the entrance is extremely rude. He ignored us and kept me and my wife waiting for 2 ours standing up, and when we complained he even yelled at us!!!. 1)Mr. Batalli:Why low class employees?; 2)Rank:Food is not that good -27 Zagat ranked? Never!; 3)Clients:OPEN YOUR EYES!; 4)Zagat&other Rankers: Be objective!. Dont loose the credibility to pamper Mr. Battali…, without that this is only a restaurant directory.

Everything was going great at Babbo. We ordered the goose liver ravioli to share, along with several other starters. Although the ravioli tasted excellent, it had a bit of a bite which I discussed with the server. The server proceeded to inform me that "goose liver ravioli" was not exclusively goose liver but also contained pork and chicken. This is nothing short of FRAUD. Anyone who is a fan of goose liver knows full well that it has a very different taste than chicken or pork. It didn't necessarily matter to me that it wasn't 100% goose liver, but it is inexcusable for the menu to state something other that what it was. It did not matter how good the rest of the food was after learning this. Shame on Mario for misrepresenting the food on his menu! I will not be back.

After a pleasant dinner only weeks before, I decided to revisit Babbo to try more dishes on MarioÂ’s inventive menu. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait by the bar. We sat down for a glass of wine. Ten minutes later, the host and hostess tells us to get up, not to be seated, but to make room for two patrons who wanted to eat at the bar. Now mind you, they did not politely ask, but instead rudely insisted that we wait standing. Even the bartender offered his apologies. After expressing my feelings to the pair about their blatant rudeness, they shamelessly explained with a snooty smirk on their faces that they make more money on two meals than on our drinks during our wait. Consistent with previous reviews about refusal to book tables for two during prime hours and refusal to seat partially arrived parties, it is obvious that someone has trained these employees that maximum revenue is more important than basic common courtesy and service ettiquette. This is a classic example of a hyped up restaurant that does not have to rely on service anymore to keep the tables full.

I have been there many times, some great some really disastrous, with those prices, I just don't want to take a chance again.

Maintains all the pomp of a celebrated place but the service is snooty, and the food (esp the pasta dishes) feel mass produced, flat and uninspired - the assembly line feel in the kitchen is tangible in the presentation.

Terrible experience at Babbo. The service was poor (rude even) and they were unwilling to accommodate the entire table due to one person's allergy (the person was willing to eat anything that didn't have wheat). Everyone at the table wanted to do the tasting menu and they refused to serve the entire table as they could not accommodate the allergy (even though the person with the allergy offered to eat something else or only the portions without wheat). Not only did they refuse to accommodate us, the server was rude and offensive in her communication of the issue. An unfortunate experience at a place we used to frequent and an embarrassment in this day and age.

I am a food lover and particularly enjoy good food. The restaurant came highly recommended so I brought 3 of my friends who flew in from Amsterdam. All I can say is it was at best average. If you want a boring $17.00 salad go there and order the arugula salad. Trust me you can do much better at home. I ordered a ravioli that had black truffles. Without that description you would never have known it. All in all it was a waste of money and a boring experience.

didn't want to go--hated Po back in the day (bad ideas and crass technique)--got dragged in by friends and it wont happen again! my marinated anchovies looked and tasted just like the jarred version from Spain, my pasta with baby octopus was inedible and bread, the only thing I ate, came a slice at a time upon request only. additionally the wine was not good and the second bottle wasn't any better--wasn't corked, was just dead in the bottle, a poor choice of the wine buyer. plates were bussed with total indifference like no one cared or noticed that two out of four people left their food uneaten.

First, I have never seen restaurants in Italy which would give table at 5.30 or 11.30PM for dinner. Second, portion does not have to be microscopique to be good. Then, they could at least treat you like a customer. Only the wine was good.
