We tried to have lunch at Bar Breton on a Monday. The key word being tried. Our group of 3 had a lunch reservation and we were seated promptly. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing that happened during our short stay. We asked 3 separate waiters to take our order but our table was completely ignored. After waiting for at least 30 minutes our group left. None of the service staff or either hostess apologized for the foul up. Needless to say we will not return for a second try. Also, it is a cash only establishment despite what is being advertised on this website.

For all those who think that you will find paradise there and be able to eat real "galette" as suggested....you are dreaming ! First, the decor is just awful, cold, not any charm... Second, the menu....Creperie ? ! Are you kidding, only 4 different "galettes" proposed, not any one with real briton touch. Only one kind of Cider available and overpriced : bottle at 45 bucks when you know that in France you buy cider as you buy apple juice... Third, as I said, overpriced !!! Last but not least, we were all sick all night long... So AVOID this restaurant if yoy expect finding there the real "creperie" atmosphere and taste that you are used to...If ever you have never tasted this french speciality, this is not a typical one and just don't go there..

it was so disapointing... i've been waiting for a real Breton restaurant in NYC for years so i was really excited to discover this new place. well, it's not Breton at all. Too bad... It's overpriced, teh service is awful, the "pate a crepe" is good but the menu is so poor.

I was really looking forward to dining here, having loved Fleur de Sel. However, this was not very good in terms of either food or service. And the neighborhood is pretty awful, unless you are shopping for incense, fake perfume or fake luggage.

It's a nice french bistro, with good decent food. However, their service is a little lacking. They promptly told us at 11pm to get out because they were closing after pushing another round of drinks on us after we finished our dinner. My spot is if you want us to drink another round and pay extra then you need to be more respectful about kicking us out. We also had a nice tab of over $120+ for a Tuesday night (and the place was empty) and we tipped over 20%. The house made pates were excellent, burger was cooked well and the mixed drinks were unique and strong. I will probably come back at some point but will duly note their closing times...otherwise I'd just assume go to Pastis or Bathazar for the same price and not get kicked out since they serve late nights.

I waited for my friend in the rather tight fitting booths alongside the North wall, as a gazed at the bar watching the lunch time punters sipping on their Pinot Grigio and Pimms, I tried to decide whether to have Swiss, Blue or Cheddar cheese with my burger. As this was the most difficult decision of my day I got some expert tutorledge from the waitress whom suggested I go with the Blue Cheese because of its high quality and texture. I obliged her advice and settled in to my crammed cubicle and waited for my impending order. After a short while my burger arrived neatly stacked on a tray with a side of tangy ketchup and a waxed paper lined tumbler filled to the brim with crispy well done rosemary French fries. The BB burger, as it's called was perfectly symmetrical and towered above the plate with an awe of beauty and grace; I wrapped my jaws around its bun and was taken aback by the strong, yet smooth flavor of the blue cheese. The bun however was a touch soft and doughy, not toasty and crisp like it could have been the burger however was full of flavor and was inhaled by my never satisfying appetite rather quickly.

My girlfriend and I ate here last week, and it was a very pleasant surprise. The place was quite busy for lunch, but service was prompt and attentive, the list of wine, beer, and even cider had great selections and value, the food was really good (the burger and the pork terrine appetizer with the truffle dressing were great), and the desserts were traditional, but well executed and tasty. I would go back for sure - the food is the big draw here.

We had an incredible meal there last night, and it was extremely reasonable. The galette filled with prosciutto and parmesan was delicious, and the merguez stuffed squid fabulous. The main courses were basically straight out of Cyril Renaud's former very high end restaurant Fleur de Sel, just a bit heartier. Beautifully prepared, absolutely delicious food, nice friendly service in a lovely relaxed room, all at good prices. We can't wait to return and try every single thing on the menu. Go!
