The food was a pale shadow of 'ino in its early years. The truffled egg toast was desiccated and practically truffle-less. The panini were no better. The service was abysmal. We waited 30 minutes for our table and the owner was incredibly ungracious. The whole experience was so unpleasant, we felt we had to apologize to our out of town guests.

This place is cute. Plenty of fun wines in any price range. On Thursday night, the seated tables were 80% women so chalk this up as a solid place for dinner with the gal pals... a little bit of a funny vibe.

Make sure you go there for the food and bring patience and willingness to wait. Our waiter was more busy checking out his reflection in the mirror than attending us. We waited for over 25min for a glass of wine and some of dishes arrived luck warm. Let's hope this was a one time service issue and not a attitude problem. That location has changed names over six times since opening...it will be seen how long this Bar Milano Off Spring will last there.

What is right - Beautiful decor. Attentive service. Tasty food. Nice, but unfamiliar, wine by glass choices. What is wrong- Portions are extremely small. Breadstick was soggy. Entree (veal chop) was accompanied only by two slivers of mushroom, and the menu offered no a la carte vegetable choices. This is a serious failure... I ordered a risotto as an appetizer but was told there would be a 35 minute wait, Had I known that, ( it was not indicated on the menu) I would have ordered it when I placed my drink order.. Furthermore, many high-end restaurants (e.g Union Square Cafe) offer risottos using a technique which allows them to partially prepare the rice ahead of time with no noticeable loss of quality.. No conventional cup of coffee is available. This is an affectation..

I ate at Bar Milano on opening night last week and was very pleased with both the food and the service. Everything on the menu is very inventive and tastes delicious. It is not what you would you would expect if you are a regular at Lupa and Inoteca. It is very different and will definitely make you want to come back for more. I cannot wait to go back this week and try other things on the menu. I had three courses and was completely stuffed. You have to save room for desert. That is the best part! The service was very attentive and they picked out a great bottle of wine for us. I did not feel rushed at all through the meal. In fact, I was there for four hours! I would also recommend that you go early and spend some time at the bar. It is really beautiful and the cocktails are amazing! I love the 323, which is made with fresh strawberry puree, balsamic vinegar, sour mix and gin. It sounds odd but is really, really good. If you have not yet tried it, then I would definitely suggest that you check it out soon.

Food was not only better than it had to be for Murray Hill and opening night-- it stood up to the best I've had anywhere for a long time-- focussed, accomplished, assured. I had cabbage, oysters, (and, I think: borlotti beans); then the tuna & sweetbreads; my friend had porcinis and rabbit. The place was packed and the crowd was mixed in good and not so good ways.... this will be the challenge of the location, to raise the bar rather than sink to the level. Attentive, inventive bar/bartenders.

As an exasperated neighborhood foodie, Jason & Joe Denton were kind enough to allow my friend and I to join them for their friends & family soft opening last night. Living down the street, we have been waiting for a high quality restaurant to join the neighborhood. From the quail foie gras to the lobster risotto, Bar Milano enchanted us with their superb flavors in their rendition of Northern Italian cuisine. Combine these savory dishes with their Danielesque service and mixologist Tony Abou-GanimÂ’s signature cocktails, and Bar M is an East Side staple in the making. -CW
