It just became part of my every week lunch! I love their many different dishes and specials, pastas, salads, salumi platters :) yumm I've noticed they are adding more tables along the Mercato part which is so nice, because you get to eat and see what they sale. Great idea!!

We frequent Barbarini at least 2-3 times a month for dinner. It is a charming environment with a friendly wait staff always wearing smiles. The seating is tucked away below a glass roof addition in the back of a marketplace which creates the feeling of outdoor garden dining. The food is fantastic, always a fresh assortment in season with homemade feel. Pricing is moderate $$ and their prix fixe menu is great. If I had any complaints it would be that if a large party is seated in the back, the sound can travel to the other tables seated around and make for noisy meal. In the end it's all worth it as the wine is priced fair and tends to make the noise a little less noticeable.

Such a beautiful place in such a beautiful area. The food ....ohhhh so good. Had the Lasagna bolognesa; my friend had the Black Linguine with Lobster....Fresh, delicious!! We went back another night and is romantic, hidden in the back room. Great !!! I will sure keep on going :)

My family is from Calabria and I love food. The owner is a great guy and so is the staff. They have 2 locations next to each other. Make sure to eat in the back of the market as there's a beautiful room with a skylight (you can't tell from the street). The pastas, salumi & cheeses are amazing. I love their spaghetti pesto and their lasagna is hearty. They have homemade almond cookies that taste like my grandmother made them. It's a great find!

i highly recommend this place...certainly the best food in the hood by far, if you are looking for really reasonably priced authentic italian fare. New extension is absolutely gorgeous and the selection is unbelievable! just charming!

An absolut gem of little restaurant. They just opened a charming extension called Barbarini Mercato that is part grocery and part restaurant. I eat there at list twice a week and is never diasppointing. A reason why NYC is still the greatest city in the world is the very existence of place like Barbarini

I joined NY Metro just to write this review. I have lived in the Seaport for several years and was very excited when the new restaurants filled the old fishmarket spaces. Many of the restaurants are excellent, with service and food that catered to locals, not the cheesy seaport tourist scene. I finally ordered from here the other night, and it was AWFUL. The $6 portabello mushroom side could not have added up to one whole mushroom. It looked like what someone had left on their plate after finishing their meal. The pasta with sausage ragu was mushy and more akin to Chef Boyardee than Italian cooking. On top of the mediocre at best food, when I called to check on my order after an hour and 20 minutes of ordering it (I live across the street from the restaurant), the man on the phone was incredibly rude and yelled at me. He told me I better hang up my phone because the delivery guy was going to be calling me. Needless to say, I am greatly anticipating the day this place goes out of business so somone else can make something decent out of the space.
