went there with a couple of friends and had a blast. started with cocktails, very good especially the one with rye whisky, followed with wine (recommendation from wine guy, former casa mono sommelier so he knows his stuff) that was great from Ribera Duero, and ate some tapas and the lobster rice.. tapas were very good, solid, traditional food very flavorful (brussels sprouts, eggplant, lamb, meatballs, the duck on a flatbread...) but the lobster paella was to die for.. really great. can't wait to be back soon or whenever they change menu (chef, former Graffit chef, changes menu seasonally)

if you like hot night spots open until late go on friday or saturday.. if you like a litlle bit more quiet, like me, go wed or thursday.. food was very good, some tapas are more traditional than others but the flavors are just right.. the lamb, croquettes and that paella of seafood especially, friendly service but we were very well taken care off, the server was from spain and she was treating us like we were at her home.. nice drinks, i was surprise about the sangrias so different from anything i have seen before, even in spain.. they got good wines also, we had one from priorat, come vella, that was an excellent recommendation. very satisfied overall and we live nearby so it will be a good regular place

Having lived in Spain for more than a year during grad school, I was eager to see whether Barraca's menu would live up to the food I ate while living in Madrid. Let me just say WOW (and I'm a picky eater). Same exact flavors - some of the same dishes. The croquetas, stuffed piquillo peppers, cheese fondue tapa and the pork belly were all amazing. My table shared a vegetable and meat paella, and both had a lot of flavor. I will definitely be back to try more tapas and some dessert (we were so full at the end of the meal that we didn't order anything sweet). This is the first restaurant I've written a review for -- which says something!
