This cheesesteak sandwhich is not from philly. Unlike the philly sandwhich the cut od meat is thicker but not too thick, the cheese is not a sauce and is melted nicely. the roll is round but very soft. Esxcellent sandwich but you will need 2.

Where do I start? Visited BB, a tiny little hole in the wall (which never bothers me, as some "holes" have the best food) for their only item, the much hyped steak sandwhich. If you like a sandwich which is 3/4 condiments and 1/4 steak, then this may be your place. An onion soupy mixture, along with ketchup (ketchup?!?) should never be placed on a steak sandwich, as they mask the flavor of the beef. Fried onions, BB! Fried onions! These enhance the beef flavor. Spices are fine (some peppers, vinger, etc.) but we're here for the steak. Easy on the condiments! Also, Kaiser rolls are great for hamburgers and cold cuts but for steak sandwiches? Never. Invest in the long sub rolls (and some more meat). On one sandwhich I removed the onion glob (to discover very little beef) and the sandwich was not very tasty (same as Steak-Ums), sorry BB. For a real steak sandwich go to the White House Sub Shop in Atlantic City or Pats or Genos in South Philly. They serve the real deal.

Gary Thompson has studied the cheesesteak and perfected it. I see some people criticize it for its departure from the traditional cheesesteak form. But, if you open your eyes a bit, you see that this is the beauty of it. Thompson studied each of the elements of the traditional cheesesteak and improved upon them, from the bread down to the onions. The best part... all this for just $4. Forget the decor, "ambience", etc... this is a purist's sandwich shop.

Totally overrated; awful sandwich; nothing like a Philly cheesesteak

To be clear, I am not from Philadelphia, but I am no stranger to cheesesteak sandwiches, so raced after reading raves about this little place in my neighborhood. I'd been warned that there are only two tables and it's an unattractive place with a guy in the back turning out the sandwiches. That wouldn't bother me if the food was good. Well, imagine our surprise when the sandwich didn't resemble our expectation - either in appearance (this one has melted cheese) or in taste. For fast food, I'd sooner go to a burger place or have a slice of pizza. This sandwich is immoral. It has nothing to do with a real Philly cheesesteak. It's tasteless, drab, the bread uninspired and we took a few bites before tossing our sandwiches. Beware of the rave reviews. They're undeserved.
