Went to Beacons as part of restaurant week. The oysters are hands down the best oysters I've ever had. And the steak defined perfection: perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and soft on the inside. And the wine pairings were excellent. Waiter was friendly. Food came out quickly (but that's more likely to be a result of restaurant week, not sure what its like regularly). I was sufficiently full after this meal and even if I paid regular price, it would still be worth it.

Having enjoyed BLT Market we decided to return to Beacon, a favorite that was one of the first Midtown restaurants to feature local, in this case Hudson Valley, American regional cuisine. The décor of Beacon has always been a satisfying blend of Frank Lloyd Wright and Adirondack natural wood styles meeting Manhattan sophisticate interior design. The dining room is multilevel, with a comfortable main dining area, a wood oven/stove open kitchen lower seating area and a wrap around upper balcony seating area including private party dining spaces. The menu is a wonderful blend of American comfort food. The wood grilled meat, fowl, fish and vegetables have distinctive and appealing flavors. The daily prix fixed menu provides ample choices and great value. The staff, while perhaps not the best in town, is friendly and helpful. We can summarize by simply stating that the entire dinning experience was one of warmth and comfort.

It was not bad, it was no good, it is just one of those blunt experience. No much interest, just another restaurant. The crowd also was simply blunt.

Big, bold, beautiful space. Very different seating areas offer very different experiences. Food's good, drinks great, service exceptional if you get Luis or Jason. Weekend brunch and happy hour pizza-drink specials are a steal. Wood roasted oysters must always be ordered, and summer theme-dinners-with-vino have been exceptional. If only they'd ban cellphones, it would be near perfect.

A sleek and beautifully designed restaurant with excellent food, gracious and impeccable service, and a menu that pleases all. Start out with the roasted oysters, big and succulent. The fish selections such as the swordfish is prepared beautifully. The meat dishes are hearty, and prepared to perfection. Leave room for dessert, especially the flourless chocolate cake. Children are welcome with their own menu that is quite extensive. An excellent dining experience.

This is a resonable spot with some good food. If you want to dine out in a relatively nice place. I did feel like my friends and myself were the youngest in the room and it def. is not a "pick-up" scene but we had a nice dinner and the prices were not that crazy. The onething is it took forever to get a drink at the bar and it was really "quiet" not crowded at all so maybe look elsewhere if you are lookign fo a happy hour joint.

Admittedly I was there for a late lunch, so the service staff whittle down to 3 on the floor. Still they were polite and attentive enough, though took a while getting menues to us and no bread arrived. The food though was quite good. Roasted tomato soup v. flavorful; roasted chicken well-seasoned, but a little dry; desserts were pretty to look at and great for anyone's sweet tooth.

This is a perfect mid-week, perhaps even Friday night, dinning spot. The menu is a wonderful blend of American comfort food. Just like the wood grilled meat, fowl, fish and vegetables. The staff, while not the best in town, is friendly and helpful. With a wine list that has depth and variety, the entire dinning experience becomes one of warmth and comfort.

Seating near the wood fired grills is worth asking for, and here asking for what you want may well be rewarded. Speaking of wood fired, the oysters are worthy of a meal all in themselves, so much so you'll each insist on your own order. Whether one of the poultry entrees or simply the incredible rib-eye steak, the preparation in unerringly perfect. If your weakness is for chocolate by all means avoid the dessert menu, because the choices are so varied you'd better have room for some delectable treats by the new pastry chef. Both our primary and secondary waiters were exactly proper, punctual, and indeed perfect in pacing our meal and responding to our wishes. The entire experience is always head and shoulders above most of their competition.

Arrogant managment, inconsistent food, pretty surroundings, good service make for repeated disappointment. Kept returning because I wanted to like it, the type of food that I like is offered but I just doesn't cut it.
