i gotta be honest, i was looking forward to eating here for a long time. unfortunately, the dinner i was served seemed like a underseasoned, overpriced, mediocre appetizer... i ordered the steak and left hungry... very dissapointing...plus the service was poor, my appetizer was forgotten altogether..... i will not be going back.

I wanted to like this place so much because of the great reviews and interesting decor that I allowed myself to endure the most horrible service I have ever received in my life ---twice. I came here once on a date and waited a half an hour to be served a drink at the bar . The whole place had only 4 other people besides my date and I. I watched 2 regulars (they mentioned this in a conversation with us) try to get the attention of an employee but they totally ignored them. The menu was was great but the food decent. I loved the decor but hated the service so much I cringe when I hear the name. Everybody I know receives the same "Im too cool to serve you" attitude when they go in their but they all praise it for the hype and look. Hipsters will continue to throw their money down the drain here believing that this type of treatment at a bar is what makes it so cool.

Love their taste in wine. Great selection in large climate controlled cave. The food is delectable as well, my favorite way to eat is to share a bunch of things among friends. Recommend reservations on weekends as the wait can be quite long. During the week, i like to curl up with a magazine or book and a quartino of great wine.

Went to brunch at Beast last Sunday (2 of us). It was around 11:30 and we got a table right away...a few minutes later there was a line and people were eating at the bar. The chorizo poached egg thing was yummy in theory, but kinda greasy and burnt. The burger was a bit over cooked (asked for it medium), but still was delicious. I think the food is worth the value and we'll go again to hopefully prove our first experience wrong. I hope it was just a bad first encounter because everything on the menu sounds delicious. The service was great!

My friends and I went to Beast last night for dinner and all walked out with one thing in mind - when are we going back! The food is mostly tapas style and was excellent. Our group basically just ordered a bunch of different stuff and the waitress brought them out as they were prepared. Of particular note, the scallops over a squash puree and balsamic reduction...I dreamed about it last night. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun place to go with a group of people.

I have to admit I can only comment about Beast's brunch, but I'm a big fan. The walk is a bit annoying, but by the time you get there you are ready to chow down anything on their delicious menu. The first time I went there, and I've been back at least 5 times, I tried the Scallops and its still my favorite. Their chicken salad is hearty and a bit sweet, and the Chipotle scramble thing is also really tasty. The service can be a bit spotty, but they have lots of good extras, like quality brunch cocktails, Gorilla Coffee, and good orange juice. Highly recommended for those hung over mornings when you want something good, not just filling.

We read a review of Beast in Go NYC, our favorite lesbian magazine for New Yorkers. We thought we would try it for brunch and thought it was great. Bar in the front has a hip pub feel, dining room in the back in warm greens and golds. The bar has a nice selection of board games for patrons to play; we played Othello after brunch. We were invited to stay for as long as we wanted. Can't wait to try the dinner menu for tapas. Great place.
