My family and I all live in Manhattan, and I decided to bring my mom here for her 65th birthday dinner, even though I know of many other places to go. But she has long been a fan of Lidia so I thought it would be a nice surprise. They wanted to seat our party of 5 in a corner, smushed up against where the servers get the place settings from. The host was extremely rude to us when my mother complained and called her sweety in a very annoyed tone. They seated us 2 tables over, but from there things continued just as bad. I have never been to a restaurant where the menu is confusing, but such is the case here. It was very loud, the waiter who was already totally annoyed by us spoke too quietly and extremely fast, and the numerous wait staff that came by our table were so unfriendly. I will tell everyone I have known my entire life in NYC to never come here. It is just a tourist trap. I expected good things from something Lidia would put her name on since she has built her reputation around relaxing times with family and friends, this was the opposite experience. My mom's birthday dinner was a failure.

The hostess at the door and the so-called manager/host, with dark hair and glasses, should both be fired. I have never been treated with such rudeness at a restaurant in my life. The individual who took us to our seats and our waitress were both wonderful, but they couldn't make up for the way we were treated upon entering the restaurant. It put a damper on our entire evening. The food was average.

After seeing Joe, owner of the restaurant Beccos, on MASTER CHEF; My wife and I decided to go his restaurant to have a dining experience that we would go back to experience again and again. By the reactions of Joe to the contestants (ie. trashing their meals, publicly degrading them and their meals with attitude) this must be a dining experience of foods that would tickle your palate. Well, sorry to say that the overall experience was not as great as we felt it would be. In short, cramped seating, loud, and the specials were not special. You need to know how to read the menu or be a regular diner to know how to order. My wife and I could have sat home and cooked the same foods. Food was bland with a big price and little to eat. If you expect to walk away with the diners experience of diners, do not go here.

We visited New York in June 2011. We were looking forward for good food. We went to Becco base on the comment on the reviews and our son went there 2 years ago and it was very good in that time. The food was not really good. I took shrimp and didn't ate them. Overt people in our party tried them and said that I was right, they were really not terrible. Our son half way in his meal began to feel sick and couldn't eat anymore. It was the most expensive restaurant on our trip and the less good.

Rustic and warm atmosphere. I often come here for the salmon, seafood and when I'm craving pasta. The service is always friendly yet professional. Enough of a good wine select as well makes it a great place for dinner or lunch. I have introduced this place to a few of my friends who love it as much as I do.

Went on a recomondation from a client. My husband ordered the endless pasta. One of them was very good, the other two offerings were boring. I ordered the Bronzini. It was very good and very large. The wine was fine from the $25 menu but drinks at the bar were stupidly expensive. Very tourisity feel to the place. Nothing really special and nothing very contempory about it. Would not go back,

We've been to Becco the last two times we were in NYC. The first time was better than this one, but it was still very good. The marinara sauce was a bit bland but the other foods were excellent. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the personalized service. When we bragged on the wonderful olives, the waiter brought us more for no extra charge. We must have eaten $10 worth of them! We like how they walk around with pans full of fresh pasta and heap it on your plate when you're ready for more!

The rudeness starts with the management and filters down. When you arrive they shuffle you into a small room because they don't want the patrons by the door to get cold. Great. The problem is they don't tell you that. Instead, with a nasty attitude they hurry you in the first door then use the second door to push you the rest of the way bumping others. Extremely rude and hurt my back as the door hit me several times. When we protested the treatment the manager threatened to revoke our reservation if we didn't like it. Unreal. The food is adequate and overpriced. There are 100's of great restaurants in NYC, no need to put up with rude restaurants. NEVER AGAIN!

Popped in last night late on recommendation -- didn't know anything about Becco in advance. Plenty of food, adequate though average. Overdressed (though tasty) Caesar, bland tomato sauce, barely detectable sage and butter in the sage and brown butter sauce -- you get the idea. $25 wine list a great gimmick. Charming room.

Went to Becco for a company dinner. Had reasonably high expectations as this is supposedly an in-demand restauarant. before a show. Bottom line, it was a very average to below-average experience. Our group of 30 was served "family style". No better than any strip mall Italian restaurant. Pasta was bland and undercooked. Beef was fatty and, again, average. Appetizers were plain and boring. I really don't get it..
