Went there for dinner last night around 6PM. Place was already packed. I was accommodated promptly. Host, co owner was very friendly and he help go through menu. I choose Prix-Fixe, three courses for $25.00, each course few choices. Started with home made hummus and grilled pita bread. It was so fresh and perfectly done. For main course I had pomegranate glazed Sea Bass served with spicy carrots and cilantro, it was so good that fills like melting in mouth. At the end I had Baklava with pistachio and freshly made whipped cream, you must try this traditional Turkish delicacy it is like to die for. They offer special wine with Prix-Fixe menu, Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Grigio, both from Napa Valley, each $6.00 glass / $20.00 bottle. For quality of food and service, this is great, great deal

I don't usually bother writing reviews but was so surprised at the poor experience by the previous reviewer. I have always had exceptional meals and lovely service at Bello Sguardo. My husband and I dine there often and have been on a first name basis with many of the staff members and the owners since day one. I recommend this restaurant when anyone asks for an UWS suggestion.

Bello Sguardo has been around for about 3 years. Perhaps the thing I like best about it is that you can basically eat anything that you may be craving at the moment... the cuisine is expansive--dishes from Morocco, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey--as well as many wines from there too. The place is very clean, which is of course, important to me and my family. The service is not rushed or pushy. You can have a nice conversation for hours and you feel very welcome. You have the opportunity to meet people, either who work there or stop by often. You can make reservations for large groups, there is a private room where parties for weddings, showers can be made. My sister just had a small engagement party there and we were all very happy with the food, service, and price. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I live in the area, and have frequented this restaurant on the upper west side and I have to say that it is one of the better ones in the area. The food is delicious and there is an extensive wine and cocktail list, all available at reasonable prices for that area. I love coming here for dinner with a large group--in that case you can share a bunch of tapas or try a delicious entree, like the hangar steak or fusili merguz pasta. It's also totally ok to have a snack at the bar and some wine--the mussels are spectacular. The decor is cozy yet elegant, the waitstaff is friendly and very accomodating. I have seen a mixed crowd there--a lot of people from the neighborhood who regularly come in, families and kids, the very young to the older. It's really an inviting and comfortable place--you are not rushed to get out, you can simply have a nice dinner and relax...

This restaurant had a bad review last May. I almost didn't go because of that, and it would have been our loss. My wife and I had dinner there a few weeks ago, and we went back for brunch on Sunday. I thought the food was great, and there was plenty of it. The service was very efficient both times we were there, and we thought that the waitresses were friendly and familiar with the menu. We like it there, and recommend it without hesitation.

Cuisine from Morocco and Spain to Italy and Crete to Turkey and Lebanon. I first went there because a friend who frequents there regularly had planned a gathering one evening for the vball team. All 9 of us ordered several dishes & shared them all. I wish I could remember exactly what each dish was at the time but the food was so good & we had such a great time. The waitstaff was so attentive even when the restaurant was at capacity. I had such good memories that I went back there again this time with just 1 other person. I had ordered the Mediterranean chopped salad which was light and tasty and perfect. My date had ordered a tasting plate which contained chorizo sausage, Spanish Manchego cheese, and olives. It was followed by the lamb ragu and he had hanger steak which was the best cut steak I ever had. Full and flavorful. Memories of my dish makes my mouth water right now. For dessert, we shared a light almond pudding. They have creative dessert dishes and offer an assortment of teas, cordials and coffee drinks. I am planning to meet one of my friends there again this week.
