We ate there this week as part of a party of seven. Three of us sent the meat back - tough, undercooked, overcooked and watch out for the lame desserts. This place is a bona fide tourist trap and an overpriced one at that. (Take a good look at the other reviews here... they're not reviews, they're advertisements with prices for goodness sake!) These folk honestly don't give a damn about their product and just want your dollars at this tired old place. For the price, there are many good steakhouses in town. This is not one of them.

This is personally my favorite steakhouse. From the Second you walk in the atmosphere grabs you. A very relaxing environment. Food is terrific an the steak varieties are endless. For New York City Restoraunt Menus Go to: http://internetjuice.netfirms.com

A big hunk o' meat on a plate. Everything a la carte. Lot's of drinks and a loud crowd. All male wait-staff.

Ben Benson's is a good steak house, but for the prices they charge, you'd expect better service, ambience, and even food. The steaks were very good, but the side dishes were disappointing.

Just went on Atkins, so no Jewish guilt for me. By far, the best lamb chops in NYC! The special salad is a masterpiece of interesting rabbit food. Mortgage the farm, though.

Too bad the food is pretty good here, even excellent for steak and seafood. Waiters are attentive when it is not busy. When it is busy forget service and forget talking to your companion. It is one of the noisiest restaurants. Do not bring anyone you want to talk to here during the dinner hour. A great steakhouse but not during dinnertime. The broker crowd here, when they let the animals out, is brash and very very noisy. The management is arrogant and indifferent. Come off hours for a very good meal.

I still prefer the old-fashioned Luger/Palm type steakhouses, but for the more corporate, midtown experience, Benson's still does the job. I used to like the loin lamb chops better than the racks they now serve, but the crab & mushroom casserole is exceptional. The service and atmosphere is about what you'd expect: Men in Eisenhower Jackets that know who the spenders are.
