The food is still good and the $3.00 frozen margaritas are good. But the economy has apparently hit Benny's. The portions are reduced and frankly, the brunch pricing although cheap, is misleading. $7.95 for the meal, add $2.00 for one drink, then each additional drink is $2.00. I don't see the deal other than the pricing is cheap.

They serve several sizes of margaritas, and all kinds of flavors! They were good and strong too! Fun party atmosphere...food was OK.

Benny's has been a weekly tradition for my friends and I. It has a great feel to the place. Once you get inside you feel like you're at a party. ALWAYS crowded. Everytime we go there is at least a 20minute wait, so we all just wait at the bar. I suggest the Black Flower - it's a frozen margarita with sangria mixed in! DELICIOUS! The serivce, food, and atmosphere is awesome. Everyones always laughing and having fun in this place! love it!

The place was empty, the service was awful! It was so bad that I had to wait 25 minutes after I finished eating to get my bill. I still tipped a full 15% because I liked the waiter. He was nice and cheerful, but otherwise I was so tempted to leave a less than 15% tip because they weren't even busy and waiters were just walking back and forth!! This is so far the worst experience I've had considering I live right across this place. Also, today, the place smelled really weird, like body odor. They kept the door open which made it quite cold!

For a lunch place, if it takes longer to wait for the food than it does to order it, the appeal just isn't there. Only here it was even worse. I only ordered a burrito and the place wasn't busy, but I waited 20 minutes. The food wasn't bad, really, but a single burrito with nothing- not even beans and rice on the side - was $13 plus tip. And a 20 minute wait. Sorry, never again.

Have been here before and thought it was ok and kinda fun at night but in the light of day I changed my mind. When we sat down our silverware was dirty and i fould a HAIR IN MY FOOD. That is disgusting! Obviously not a clean place! I know it is cheap Mexican but not clean or sanitary!

I have eaten at Bennie's maybe four or five times, and we have always enjoyed it. The service is always quick and friendly. The drinks keep flowing. We have never been disappointed with our meals. The atmosphere is very lively, and there is much to watch walking by this little eatery.

Burritos have little meat inside and are bland. The SALSA is not fresh, from a bottle with vinager and I ordered fresh jalapenos and got pickled ones from a bottle/can.

A friend and I shared the omelette with chorizo sausage. We both became very ill about 12 hours later; and for the next 2-3 days with time out from work due to diarrhea, vomiting, & weakness. After reviewing their NYC Health inspections, it's no wonder we got sick. Here are parts of the report from 1/22/09 at nyc.gov: Violation points: 30 Sanitary Violations 2.) Canned food product observed severely dented. 3.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist. 4.) Evidence of roaches or live roaches present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. 5.) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. 6.) Evidence of rats or live rats present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. 7.) Food not cooled by an approved method whereby the internal product temperature is reduced from 140°F to 70°F or less within 2 hours and from 70°F to 45°F or less within 4 additional hours. 8.) Cold food held above 41°F (smoked fish above 38°F) except during necessary preparation.

This place has yummy chips and salsa and 3 dollar margaritas that while they don't look like they pack a punch you will definitely feel them after your second one (and at 3 bucks each, go for the second one). BBQ Chicken burrito is huge and easily splitable. Shame they got rid of the fried plantains on the menu. Those were delicious but they are trying to go on a "healthier" route. Maybe they shouldn't serve super salty chips then but then I would probabbly stop going. =)
