While Alain Ducasse might be a genius, and Adour is a wonderful restaurant. Benoit is a misstep in every way. The food is lousy, the service is terrible, it's boring, bad and offensive. Go to Adour, stay way from Benoit.

I was excited about this place after reading Gael Greene's review. Sad to say, this place was average. First, we were seated at a cramped, tiny table near the rest rooms, and the restaurant was not crowded (it was an early Sunday afternoon). Second, our waiter seemed to come by every 20-30 minutes. I give the lobster ravioli a B. The taste was interesting, only it was a very small portion (about 3-4 pieces) and the frothy shellfish emulsion was a little odd. The vanilla millefeuille, on the other hand, was absolutely heavenly and I would go back just for that. Like a sweet Napoleon, only not too sweet. My friend attempted the Rum Baba which was literally drowning in rum and screaming for help, so I offered her my dessert. On top of that, this brunch for two was over $100 and we were still hungry afterwards!!

Went with a group and really didn't have high expectations after reading tons of bad reviews. But our party absolutely loved the place. Service was attentive, food was delicious and adventerous. We all thought we would be back soon. Reviews have been mixed, so I would see for yourself on this one.

I decided to try Benoit a couple of months ago, and didn't regret it -- I've been going back again and again, so the mixed reviews are a bit strange to me. The lunch menu is a great deal and the options are usually very good (the creamy asparagus soup is definitely one of the best I've ever had). Staff is efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere is also a plus: simple but cozy and very "Frenchy".
