I don't care how good the biscotti is at this place. There is no reason to yell at paying customers quietly sitting in your cafe. The woman who runs this place has a very clear idea of what she wants her shop to look like. And that appears to be empty. I don't want to get yelled at by the person selling me coffee. Also, a note. If someone sits in your shop for an hour with a computer while NO ONE else is there, you should maybe encourage their business instead of yelling some crap about Starbucks and "the kind of shop you want to run." PS. Have you ever had an intense craving for biscotti? I haven't.

I recently had a wonderful experience at Bis.Co.Latte. This European-style colorful café has an incredible variety of biscotti and other baked treats. They offer wonderful lunch values including hearty bowls of soups and risotto in generous portions. My finicky sons used words like “awesome” and “amazing” to describe the various foods they were willing to try there. My 10-year old son Abe claims that Bis.Co.Latte’s hot chocolate is “the best in the whole wide world.” We were told by our server that they make it with their own homemade chocolate. I highly recommend Bis.Co.Latte for breakfast or lunch. Bring along the family as it’s very kid-friendly.

I visited Bis.Co. Latte for the first time this weekend, lured by the promise of oh-so-many varieties of biscotti. And I will say: the oatmeal raisin biscotti I ordered was quite good. The service, however, was more offensive than anything I've ever experienced before. I wanted to sit in the cafe and work on my computer for awhile, but innocently asked for my coffee in a to-go cup. The owner rolled her eyes dramatically and said, "I HATE it when people do that. It totally ruins our aesthetic here." Yes, she actually said that, verbatim, to me, the customer! I then calmly explained to the Biscotti Nazi that I wanted a lid because I like my coffee very hot, and even offered to pay extra for the paper cup. "This is NOT Starbucks!" she yelled back at me. Um, I'll say. Bis.Co.Latte -- which was empty when I was there on a weekend afternoon -- should take a few notes from the green coffee giant. Starbucks may have flash-roasted coffee, but at least its staff bends over backwards to accommodate customers.

I was recommended to try the biscotti at this Hell's Kitchen (or are we calling it "Hellsey" now?) hang out by friends even though I live on the Upper East Side in snobville. My husband and I used the trek as an excuse to exercise and were thrilled by the rewards when we arrived. Incredible bowls of latte, scrumptious scones and unforgettable biscotti reminding us of our trip to the Ligurian Coast last summer. We left trying to convince the owner to start a biscotti-of-the-month club so we could join. A must try...

Bisco Latte, my home away from home, is frequently filled with neighborhood regulars. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, the result of the modern European interior and friendly staff. Homemade biscotti, soups, risottos, and coffee are well above average in quality. Current magazines and newspapers add to the old-fashioned feeling of an Italian or French cafe, where one can sit and not feel rushed to vacate a table. The wonderful and constantly changing varieties of biscotti (a difficult choice between the hazelnut chocolate and the pear ginger) best bought by weight and not by the piece, are good values, especially in comparison to the ever-encroaching coffee chains that charge more for over-roasted coffee and commercially prepared foods. Holly, the perky owner who had a catering business for years, makes a meal in a bowl. My fav is the Tuscan faro soup with shaved Italian cheese and olive oil dribbled on top, or then again, I love the lentil with chestnut soup, everything made with fresh veggies and ingredients. Bisco Latte, a terrific cafe, is a welcome addition to a neighborhood that has so few places to relax, an excellent retreat for a good afternoon cappuccino and biscotti.
