BLT Fish is elegantly causal with a retractable glass roof, and a large open kitchen. Their fish is wild raised, the food is great, and service was great too. It was amazing!
They have an amazing full raw bar.
The BLT Fish Shack is casual, and they have a bar down there. I've been there many times. It's supposed to be like a New England Fish House in a way.I love their lobster roll, and my boyfriend loves their BLT Tuna Sandwich. They have great lunch and dinner specials. It's really worth it!
They have great quality food, which is what I look for most in a restaurant! And who can beat their wine selection (over 450 wines)? You definitely get more than what you paid for! Exceptional food and service. Great atmosphere. Have been to the Shack many times, and last Friday was my first time at the main BLT Fish restaurant upstairs, and loved it there. I have, and definitely will go back, and recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers!

After hearing much about BLT fish and hungering for a fantastic seafood meal we ventured out to try Chef Tourondel's fish shack. All we left with was DISAPPOINTMENT. We started with his calamari. I make it at home and was not expecting the overcooked BLT rendition that ended up on our table. After the waiter informed us that no sides came with our meals one companion and myself ordered a side of the onion straws, that's two. When brought to our table we were amiss to see two enormous baskets placed before us. The waiter would have been nice to recommend that we only purchase one. My main course seafood combo at $23 was small and not memorable in the least. The seafood (all served cold and on ice) was waterlogged and tasteless. As far as decor...the mirror on the wall at our booth was dirty and splashed with what I'm not sure. The booth seats were torn and also dirty. Don't make the mistake and end up at BLT Fish if you're looking for a fantastic seafood meal. This is not it.

Fish Shack - Not so special

Had dinner on Saturday night in the Fish Shack. While we enjoyed the drinks, our dinners were unspectacular. I ordered the Shrimp and Chips and found it to be boring. My husband ordered the Surf and Turf. The beef was cooked well done (he ordered medium) - and the lobster tail was dry. We really wanted to like the place - but we left uninspired.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary here. The food and the drinks are great and the wait staff are amazing for their hard work but a little hard to understand. Thank you to the pastry chef (not sure of his name) for the extra sweet touch he gave us for our anniversary. The only down side is that we had to leave.

Lively spot with willing accented waiters who were hard to understand. Food was excellent but only three scallops for $28 with sides extra left me feeling I had been taken for a swim.
The non fish eater in our group had only one choice - filet mignon at $44. How about one chicken or vegetarian dish?
I liked the decor but the block was somewhat dismal. Did manage a parking spot right in front though.
Best advice is to view the menu in advance so you know what your'e in for. Also make reservations as the place filled up.

I was surprised by reading the reviews( most of 'em are outdated) of BLT Fish that have just pointed the drawbacks of the restaurant but infact they are very less helpful for the people who really want to have a fine dining experience. BLT fish according to me is a fine restaurant with exceptional food and service. All the staffs are so lively and helpful. I recommend people to go there atleast once especially at BLT fish at 3rd floor.

I went to BLT Fish with a couple of friends and have never been so disgusted. The staff does not know what they are doing and they are incredibly rude. After I waited an hour for a table, I complained to the manager who said he would straighten it out. He bought my friends and I a drink to settle us down and then he never resurfaced. With our drinks in hand, we were made to wait an additional 35 minutes at which point we had to literally fight with the rude hostess to get seated. This is completely unacceptable. Situations like this put a distaste in your mouth that ruins the dining experience. I do NOT recommend BLT FISH.

I'm still not sure if I was just expecting too much. I sat down stairs and found the atmosphere reminiscent of Red Lobster. The U-Peel-it shrimp was not edible, it was so oily that you didn't want to touch them much less eat them. The lobster roll was a joke, it was all roll and no virtually no lobter. The Skate was OK, the desserts were the best part of the meal. I suggest you visit Mermaid Inn or Red Lobster and save the dough.

It's clear that the chef/owner has extended himself way too far. Appetizers are good, but the entrees were several cuts below Docks, and that is inexcusible. And the service? Probably the most inept in the city (I left a 10% tip and I NEVER tip below 15%)Desserts were horrendous (we sent both of our back). Few NY restaurants do fish well these days. It's sad to say that McCormick and Schmicks, a chain, actually is better than 80% of the NYC seafood houses these days.

I just can't imagine how this place mirrored the menu of my favorite seafood restaurant in the city, Milos on 55th Street. There is no originality.
