after dining here many times and being fairly happy, especially pre-theater, I was sorely disappointed when I returned and ordered one of the new maki rolls on the menu. I took a bight, but got nothing but rice, avocado, lettuce, and spicy sauce- there was an infinitesimal amount of fish. I looked through the roll, and almost no fish. Maybe there was half a tablespoon in the entire roll. My mom had ordered the same thing and returned hers to the kitchen. Basically inedible. Very disappointing at those prices to have such an experience. Also, the sides we ordered did not arrive until everyone had finished eating! We were all grumpy, and i was hungry to boot. Not sure if I would risk a return.

Four of us went to Blue Fin for dinner before the theater two weeks ago. The server seemed distracted but we managed to order with little problems. Three of us ate seafood which was good but not exceptional. One ordered a steak which should have been decent. It could not have been worse. The steak was all grizzle and had to be sawed to cut. When we told our server she shrugge her shoulders. We had to ask for the manager. He came over and was very abrupt with us. My friend was trying to at least eat the side dish but he rudely took the plate from her and told her he'd talk to the chef. When he didn't return, we asked our server what the chef said about the steak. She called the manager over. He said the chef said the steak was good. In addition, we ordered a second round of wine spritzers which were more spritzer than wine and for the same price of a glass of wine. Return? You've got to be kidding! There are far better restaurants I could eat at for the same price and not have such poor service and poor meal. STAY AWAY!

Blue Fin strives to reach mediocrity in its food, service and experience. It's the quintessential midtown lunch: expensive w/o providing much in return. Perhaps the garish decor is supposed to compensate for the mediocre food, snobby and inattentive staff (who are always "right"), and distaste for customer service. We had a forced 2-hour business lunch b/c the hostess did not show a guest to our table (even after a specific request), the significantly delayed entrees arrived at different times (within a 20 minute window), and servers were inattentive. Hot entrees are overly laden with mayo; the sushi is creative but not as good as Haru or any less fancy sushi place in the area. I contacted management to share the poor experience. It took 4 phone calls to get a response (after calling Westin's Platinum customer service line) and even then, I received a flimsy apology and lip service that I should have complained while I was there at the time. (Actually, I did, but I was informed the manager was not present.) Blue Fin is not a part of the Starwood properties, and it does not have Starwood customer service standards. Suffice it to say that I will not return and the management did not wish to ameliorate my experience. They stand behind their actions. If you are looking for a posh Japanese lunch in this area, I recommend Haru. The food is excellent, the service is attentive and fast and you'll have an authentic experience. Thumbs down all around on Blue Fin.

My son and I have never tried sushi before and wanted to give it a try...I wish I had gotten our server's name as he is what made our experience top notch. He took his time explaining the menu and made recommendations. Along the way, he made us feel extremely comfortable and welcome. I told him we were leaving the next day but truly enjoyed our recent Broadway experience. He suggested we go to the local theater playing Next to Normal and try entering the lottery to win $25 tickets to the awesome performance...we did...and WE WON!!! This restaurant and this truly exceptional young man made our last day in the city wonderful! I have many friends who visit the city often and will recommend they make plans to try this venue...I am sure they will not be disappointed!

Have been here many times before or after a show. Hanging out after the show is better as the place has a club atmosphere feel. Never had a bad meal or service. Drinks are great and it is fun to hang at bar and watch the world go buy in Times Sqaure. I would not say this is fine dining at its best, but a trendy, fashion, fun experience. The chocolate is the best finish to the nite. If you want an extra box, ask......a good sign of customer service.

I can't believe I just spent $200 here!!! I am not fussy and I typically only write favorable reviews. But the service was so poor here, I felt compelled to write. I've lived in the city for 20 years and have had hundreds of meals out - the service here probably ranked in the bottom five I've ever experienced. Not rude, just totally incompetent. Won't go into detail, enough said. The food was average at best and so there was nothing to help overcome the poor experience.

The provisions were unexceptional and the cost was rather extortionate. The Ambience was quite pleasant. A word of caution however. I was there last night during a torrential rainstorm and checked my coat and umbrella. Much to my dismay upon departure the clerk gave my umbrella to someone else and stated that there was a gentleman who insisted that my umbrella was his even though the ticket on it had my number on it. As a consolation he gave me the one left behind which was flimsy and leaked. So unless you want to donate your personal items, I would suggest not checking your belongings there.

I work right in the area so convenience/laziness brings me here pretty often. To be fair, the food is average, perhaps overpriced, although the atmosphere makes up for some of it. Try to get a table upstairs (the booths against the wall are most comfortable and the 'beach wall' makes for a nice gazing experience). The service is good most of the time, but it can get extremely busy during the corporate lunch hour. As for the food, I've had my hits and misses. Most of the entrees are nothing special with the sea bass as the exception. What stands out: the sesame flat bread they give before the meal, the spicy tuna sashimi in cucumber cups (don't think these are on the menu, but they do make them), and white chocolate/pear sorbet. Overall, this place caters to the Western palate and for more authentic sushi, I'd head down one block to Sushi of Gari on 46th.

Haley and I went to Olive Garden but found a 40-minute wait-line, so we took a trip right across the road to Blue Fin. The waitress gave us the perfect wine for our taste. The Branzini and the Wild-Striped Bass entres were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The decor was fabulous as well. One lacking aspect, in my opinion, was the dessert menu. It would be nice to have a more variety, for the list currently consists mostly of sorbets and sherberts. Could be better A Must-Go.

Thought I was taking my ape somewhere special for his 51st birthday. But alas... my appetizer and main were both bland and room temperature (shoulda been hotter). His sushi was pretty good (but not as good as Maritime Hotel where we ate previous weekend). Drinks were good as was dessert. Our waiter was above par judging from previous posts. Wish I had looked at these reviews before shelling out 180 + tip. SKIP IT!! FEH!!!
