Blue Water Grill is one of the best dining experiences I've had in the City. The space manages to be big but still intimate and cozy. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The waitress knew the menu and the wine pairings thoroughly and made excellent recommendations. The food was incredible and reasonably priced. The wine list is slightly pricey ($60-150 for most bottles), but has some great finds that pair well with the delectable seafood selections on the menu. A must visit for seafood lovers!

My wife and I took my best friend and his wife to Blue Water Grill for his birthday. The reservations were for 7:15 pm but we arrived in the area early and decided to walk around Union Square a bit (my friend and his wife are from upstate New York). It began to rain so we decided to head on over to Blue Water Grill a bit early. Even though we arrived about 6:30 pm we were still seated in our reserved area, The Jazz Room. The atmosphere was great. Good music (the trio of piano, bass and quitar were perfect), good lighting and even better service. The staff was courteous and helpful. The food was excellent. The seafood was perfect. The blackened swordfish, softshell crab and shrimp and scallops tasted great. We loved it! The appetizers and deserts were also excellent. It was one of the best times the four of us have spent together. Blue Water Grill was a great experience.

I went to the Blue Water Grill during a recent visit to celebrate a friend's birthday and had an outstanding experience. We were seated at a relatively quite table upstairs w/in 15 minutes of walking in at 10:15pm on a Sat night - very impressive for how busy the place was. Our server was genuinely helpful, offering what proved to be a great selection of wine to pair with our meals - and doing so w/o recommending the priciest selections either (a huge plus in my book). We had the spider and spicy tuna rolls as appetizers; both of which were excellent. Our entrees, grilled swordfish and ahi tuna were exquisite as well, and the meal was topped off by a delicious and generous serving of crÃ¨me brule, flavored with cappuccino and a hint of citrus. Overall the meal was excellent and we were very pleased with the service. Beyond just what we ordered, I was particularly impressed with the wine selections both from California and outside the US. This is definitely the kind of place I will make sure to return to during my next visit to NYC.

Went for restaurant week with some girlfriends and was impressed. Portions were great and our seafood entrees were fresh and delicious. Looking forward to coming back for brunch sometime.

In planning a trip to NYC November 9-12, 2006, this restaurant was recommemded to me by a lady who lives in Brooklyn and works in Manhattan. I found the restaurant quite loud. The tables were very close to each other making a "private" dinner impossible. However, the food was excellent from the appetizer to dessert. They have a wonderful wine selection. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting NYC and would certainly go there again. I would probably ask for a different seat the next time.

The food was only "fair", with small portions a big problem. I suggest trying other restaurants because Blue Water Grill doesn't live up to expectations.

I have visited the Blue Water Grill on a number of occassions. I have always had a most enjoyable experience...good food, beautiful decor...I have never had a negative experience

It was our first time eating at the Blue Water Grill and my wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. We were planning to eat at Union Square Cafe but wanted to sit outdoors and USC didn't offer it. BWG did and was able to seat us in 10 minutes on a Sunday at 11:30. The Seafood Cobb salad is fantastic - best salad I have had in a long time. It was a beautiful start to a great day in the city.

My husband and I have been coming here for years for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.... We get our family to give us gift certificates (for xmas, bdays, etc) so it softens the blow at the end of the night. The food is fabulous (try all the oysters) and the sea food melts in your nouth. The downstairs is too noisy to be "intimate", so if you want to have a conversation, stay upstairs. This restaurant is our favorite "special" place.

while the storied chilled seafood platter was a flavorless disappointment (chilled seafood should be served slightly below room temperature, but the oysters were so cold it was like eating saltwater jello), our waiter was probably the best server I've ever had. Not to mention the terrific pear martini, with half a fresh fig as garnish, which is a solid #3 on my 10 best drinks of all time. The jazz in the downstairs seating area was pretty great, too.
