Came here with my family for dad's birthday and loved every minute of it. My dad, who is a cynical hard to impress kind of guy, had the steak and said it was the best he's ever eaten. Everything I tasted -- the duck (omg!), the sea bass, and the butternut squash soup -- was divine as well, so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Our server was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The dining room at Bobo is so cozy and elegant, with beautiful, eclectic decor. It's expensive, but def a place to come for a special celebration. We peeked into the glass "garden" terrace (not really a garden, but more like a beautiful little greenhouse), which was warm and looked so cute and romantic. Looking forward to trying a sunny brunch out there soon!

Wow. This place has changed. I begrudgingly went back to Bobo for dinner with my boyfriend's family tonight after having had much the same experience as the other reviewers had when I went a few years ago. I have to say that I way duly impressed. I don't know what happened, but the food and everything was nothing less than amazing. We had drinks while we waited for a table. I had one with Hendrix Gin and cucumber and rosemary and my boyfriend had a drink with bourbon and basil, and they were both delicious. When we got upstairs they put us at a table right by the fireplace and the decor made it feel homey and comfortable. Our waiter at first seemed like he came from outer space â€“ he was like a lanky, bald version of Mork, but had us laughing from the moment he started calling the wine list the old testament and the cocktail list the new testament, and he was actually very nice and professional. For appetizers we had ravioli with mushrooms and cream sauce, and little rice balls stuffed with escargot, and steak tartar. The waiter suggested we try the duck, so my boyfriend ordered it, and I'm really glad he did. It had hazelnuts on top which went perfectly with it, and I got the scallops with a celery root risotto. The desserts - a home-made version of a mars bar that was divine. I'm so glad I went back and have another great place in the neighborhood. I definitely recommend it. Now if only they could get some rabbit on the menu... :)

I have never actually ate here, but the drinks are fantastic!!! I would go back and often do to enjoy a cocktail or 4!

BoBo over promises and painfully under delivers. The cutesey West Village townhouse spot has got atmosphere, ambiance and all that stuff down. Unfortunately they've forgotten about the food and service. It took about 40 minutes for them to take our drinks order by which point I was considering stealing a bottle from the rack beside me. Once the wine was poured, it was not poured again. Then it ran out. No one asked if we wanted more, which is a shame, because you definately need to be drunk to deal with the food here. Appetizer was described as a cereal and bacon stuffed Leek. What materialized was a small bowl of uncooked grains with a poached egg on top. Where was the Leek? I am Welsh, I wanted my Leek. Entree was an unseasoned fried chicken breast atop a tasteless mush of risotto. There was supposed to be sausage. There was no sausage. Maybe it was in the same place as the Leek? I tried to save the night with a cocktail. Another fail. Watery, weak and lacking in any flavor. At the end of the night the real bad taste though in the form of the check. They had added service charge because there was 6 of us. $100 a head. I felt sick and it wasn't the crappy food this time.

You enter a warm, glowing townhouse and are greeted by a cheery hostess. If lucky, you are whisked upstairs to a drop dead gorgeous dining room with high ceilings, a lovely courtyard and tall windows through which light pours in the afternoon casting the room in a beautiful glow. Then......you order. Menu looks inviting. Actually, everything on it looks tempting but the food is barely above the level you might encounter at The Acropolis Diner and Coffee Shoppe. Note to owners; revamp the entire kitchen, your space is too lovely to waste.

I've never been compelled to write an online review - of meals incredible or terrible. Consistency is something I pride in a meal, and I often don't visit a restaurant often enough to make fair judgement. Regardless, the mediocrity of my meal at Bobo tonight is, ironically, worth writing about. It should be noted that we ate vegetarian and only had a selection of appetizers and sides. But for a restuarants that tauts its farm-fresh and local produce and meats, i expected more from its vegetables. The broccoli and parsnips were bland, and the squash was undercooked. The tofu was drowned in a homogenous and boring sauce. The cheese plate left little to be sampled by two people. Our waitress was engaging and funny, and we left appreciating her service more than any of the food.

We chose Bobo for our holiday dinner ignoring past reviews on the quality of food and service because the decor looked beautiful on the website. We decided to judge the food for ourselves. Unfortunately, the negative reviews were right on. The food was mediocre and sevice not up to par with the price range. Although the decor lived up to expectations, we will not return. It's a shame to have such a beautiful space shadowed by unqualified staff and management. Bobo should try their hands on yet another chef. Hopefully, this time they will pay as much attention to food details as they did with the space.

A great spot in the West Village. I hardly ever comment on blogs - but I wanted to recommend friends to bobo. We felt like we were invited to a fabulous West Village brownstone dinner party. I have always been a fan of the Waverley Inn and the now departed Beatrice - and find the crowd very similar but less pretentious. Great bar and very elegant dining room. I would recommend ordering a variety of the starters and if the duck is still on the menu - try it!

I had my birthday party at bobo and man was I spoiled rotten! The service was excellent and my friends told me the restaurant had been so cooperative planning it all. The food was absolutely amazing and I love that they stick to using local and seasonal ingredients. The fish dishes we had were delish, and the dessert so so good! And I had wayyy to many of those canapes! We continued the party with dancing at the bar downstairs and cocktail sampling galore. Thank you to bobo for my best birthday ever. I'll be back - even just for a burger at the bar.

I'm very surprised at some of the reviews because our experience was not good. The place does have a trendy feel though a bit loud. 3 of the 6 meals were sent back because they were cold. Service was almost non-existent but they were more than happy to add 20% gratuity to the bill. After a 5 minute discussion with the manager he finally relented and took the $6 fee off the check for tap water. I would've thought they'd throw in the water after we just spent $464 on bad food and service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
