This place is very sceney. Loud music... fun environment... nothing gets you more into the mood than screaming across the table over a dim candle... and $8 beer. Whenever I go...I am served by really attractive waiters and waitresses. I find that if you're young...they will flirt with you for better tip. (haha) The food is yummy, its great to get a medium plate of chicken and share with another...its easier on the wallet. It is a long wait for just poultry...but its worth it. It is annoying how you can't get in when you're not 21 after a certain time. I believe they only let people 21+ after 10? When I've gone after 10...the line itself was 45 min long. VERY SCENEY. But good chicken and beer.

After reading the previous review, I felt compelled to write my own. The chicken is absolutely delicious: moist, crisp and spicy. This is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. True the service isn't fantastic, but it's no worse than most restaurants in NY. My friends and I love to go here for celebrations - the chicken platters are generous and the soju flows and flows. However, anyone who has visited this Bon Chon location knows that it's primarily a BAR/LOUNGE and is NOT an appropriate place to bring small children. If they changed their child policy midstream and no longer allow children, it was certainly for the best. Children simply do not belong in a bar! It's disheartening to see a review of a bar/restaurant that is so negative not because of the quality of food served, but because they rightfully enforced a sensible policy based on environment. Besides, the chicken can be very spicy, and even the mild chicken provides a wealth of flavors that will prove unpalatable for young children. With plenty of kid-friendly restaurants in the area, why force Bon Chon to change their policy?

I was a dedicated Bon Chon fan. Despite the slow service, the chicken was worth it. I visited tonight at 6:00 PM. The dining room had two tables occupied and the rest was empty. My parents, aunt, sister and two nieces were visiting us from Philly. We raved about Bon Chon so much that they wanted to try it! Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were turned away because we had children with us. I have dined there many times and have seen kids there at a later time when the restaurant was packed. We pleaded with the waiter and explained that we were loyal customers and that I had my wife's birthday party there with over 25 people. His response was "you can either send the kids home or come back without them. My first thought is, why would he make such a stupid, idiotic suggestion like "send the kids home". If they have a "no child rule", enforce it equally. I will NEVER visit Bon Chon again. Bottom line is the food is good; the service is slow; and the adolescent waiter who represented himself as the manager was extremely rude! Bye Bye Bon Chon!
