impressively still relevant, very satisfied, will return

Bond ST is tucked away in the east village on this cute cobblestone street that is impressively still relevant for how long it has been around. Many of the girls I was with had been going here for years now, (one first went over a decade ago), and raved about the food before we ordered. Went with a group of 8 girls - the service was pretty good, a little slow with drinks but they were able to recommend what we should order for a large sharing dinner. Food was delicious - def get the rice cakes, sake steamed cod, the avocado salmon roll and a "saucy shrimp" app; as the server described them.

Everything here was spectacular. We had a Zagat Smartbox which awarded us a 4 course dinner for two at an array of NYC restaurants and I'm so glad we went here. Boy was it a steal! I can only imagine how expensive this place is regularly, but I'm also sure it would be worth every penny. The sake steamed cod was unreal. I am dying to recreate it at home. While sitting at the sushi bar is less intimate, it's a fun thing to do on a dinner for two b/c you get to watch all the food being prepared.

restaurant week review

we had a 10pm reservation, we arrived about 10 min early but were seated right on time. the hostess was polite and did her best of a VERY crowded and loud situation. i was pleasantly shocked we were seated so promptly and was also glad that we got seated upstairs where it was still loud, but definitely not as loud and crowded as the downstairs dining room. the server was also very nice and helpful. every bite, from the ginger salad, that at first appeared boring and undressed, but was in fact DELICIOUS....to the crunchy tempura shrimp with a red sauce and the sea bass, were to die for!! the panna cotta was simple yet just as delicious as the rest of the food that preceded it. we did order an appetizer (the big eye tuna with truffle oil and ponzu sauce was heavenly!!!) that was not included in the prix fixe, and it came late with our entree course, so the waiter comp'd it off our check, and although we weren't pissed at the lateness, it was a very nice gesture of the waiter to do that. my husband and i have never been to bond street prior to this friday, but we will definitely be back asap! service and food was excellent, atmosphere was nice but a little loud and crowded, but thats nyc right?!

Bond st is the one and only place I eat sushi, I jus cant have sushi anywhere else. I recommend to all my friends. It's like "once u go Bond st sushi u never change it with another place" :) I'm addicted to it for good ofcourse. see you there ... oh I think I'm going this evening :)

Amazing food - Service left a bad taste in my mouth

I expect that Restaurant Week will be a bit more hectic than normal. The four of us arrived early, but still were not seated until a half hour after our reservation time. The hosts (why do 3 people need to stand there?) kept telling us it would be just another minute, our table was ready, one or two minutes... I would have bought a drink or moved further away from the walkway if I knew I'd be there for 40 minutes. We were finally sent upstairs and seated, where we waited 10 minutes for water and another 10 to see a waiter to place our orders. We were seated for a half hour before getting cocktails! There was too much time between courses but the food was amazing. The main course was definitely good enough to downplay how terrible the service had been. When it was finally time for dessert, the waiter only brought out 3 and said the last one would be out later. My friends were finished and the table was cleared before my dessert came. The food was memorable but I won't forget about the service...

What's all the hype about?

After hearing and reading rave reviews, I finally made it into Bond St only to leave incredibly disappointed. Fish wasn't that fresh, rolls were boring, and overall eveything was pretty poorly put together. I have had better sushi at the lunch counter at Whole Foods. I went with a group of friends and was able to pick from their plates and can tell you it wasn't just my dish that was off. I am really not sure what all the hype was about. Maybe this place was good a few months ago?

Your service is fabulous and your food--absolutely delicious!! C.C. and your staff, thank you for a very memorable experience and the best dinner that we had during our visit to New York. The Tuna appetizer that our waiter suggested was wonderful as well as the encrusted shrimp rolll, spicy tuna (one of the best I have had) and the lobster tempura. The wine was perfect as well and the atmosphere (very important to our group) was a wonderful toast to the end of our girls trip. Thanks again for all--

I've been to them all - Rose Bar, The Jane, the Gates (ugh). Bond street serves the best food with the coolest atmosphere. But there's nothing pretentious about it. The waitresses and bartenders are cute but also very warm and gracious. You will not have a better time in the city than here.
