My friend and I stopped by Boom the other day and ordered a pizza to share. There was a live band that was playing, which was fun at first, but it was so difficult to hear that after awhile it became a little exhausting to shout. The pizza was great, but it took half an hour to come. That's all that we ordered since we didn't want to spend a lot. It seems a little overpriced too- especially the drink menu. I enjoyed the decor and the location, but there are plenty of restaurants in NYC like this one that have better service and better food. If this restaurant was in the middle of, say, Wisconsin, it would be booming (no pun intended) with popularity, but since it's in NYC and competing against thousands of fabulous restaurants, I'd say it's worth trying out a different place next time.

LIVELY PLACE!!!

What's with all the negative energy people??? It sounds like people are more than willing to nag and complain about a bad experience and forget about the good ones... My friend recommended BOOM as a great place to have dinner after a nice walk around SOHO. Of course, I went and googled BOOM for both directions and ratings. It was a total turnoff when I heard all the negative comments about their service and price. The following week I happen to be in SOHO around 10PM after meeting a friend. Hungry and drenched from the rain, I decided to take the "risk" and go in to BOOM. And guess what?? It was fantastic. The environment was cozy and lively. The waiters were always there if I needed assistance. They had a great live band and found it sweet to see a couple dancing alongside them. So instead of wasting my energy complaining about my "horrifying" experience at some restaurant, I'm gonna take that wasted energy and boost about it!!! Take that to y'all who I call "bitter-in-life"!

Great Staff and Food!

I am very hard to please. I have traveled the world and have been exposed to some of the BEST Food and Service. I was impressed with the manager as I had a coupon and called to see if they would honor the coupon and the manager said yes. He gave me directions as I was driving and was very friendly when I met him in person. The food was fresh and the service was prompt and accomodating. Most of the staff are European which is really appealing. The spirit in this place was very welcoming and there was live music. Planning my birthday ladies night out here in December because I was that impressed! TRY it and see for yourself!

walked in at 3pm for lunch...starving....someone seated us (3 ladies) in the back corner, then walked away....never for anyone to return again. after about 10 minutes of being ignored, i walked up to someone and asked if we would ever get service. finally, someone took our order. we never had the same person come back to our table. was not sure who our server was. the food was average at best. the service was one of worst experiences i have ever had. ALSO, after using the restroom, i realized that the soap i had used at the sink smelled like vomit. i will never return to this restaurant....ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest going to Boom if you like the taste and simplicity of a microwaved lean cuisine meal. Nothing is fresh, the drinks are overpriced and the staff is clueless. My guests had to clean our own table and we were asked if we want the appetizers prior to our entree!! The waitress then asked how we want our cod!!? Go to your local supermarket and grab something out of the freezer if you want to replicate the experience we had at Boom!!

I love this place. It's adorable for a date, but comfortable enough to grab dinner with friends. The food is amazing - from apps to dessert.

I have been traveling to NY since I got out of college.. I think my first trip was in 1991. Boom has been a favorite of mine. Yes, I have been to Chic places to eat all over the world, but Boom is an establishment that makes me want to return. It's Real enough..to make you feel Home away from Home.

Lousy, over-priced food

I cannot understand how a restaurant located in such a trendy New York neighborhood can sell such tasteless food and still stay in business. The food was bland at best. The tri-color pasta salad with shrimp was inedible. The shrimp were not de-shelled or cleaned. The lighting was so bad I could not see the shrimp to de-shell or clean them. I had to wrap the whole thing and take home. It didn't taste much better there. Way too dark, too expensive and the band was much too loud. I would never go back.

I feel bad for those that had poor service because I had a wonderful time at Boom last night. There was adorable old-timey music playing (complete with banjo and oboe) and the decor was delightful. Our waitress was attentive and patient (we were slow to order). Although it is a bit pricey my salad was fantastic and the wine delicious. A great cozy date place.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a whim after a day of shopping in SOHO. We were headed to our usual Lure on Mercer St., and we really should have stuck with our plan. It was snowing out, so not too many people were at the restaurant--yet the service was remarkably poor. The employees were too busy chatting with one another, loudly cursing--all while hovering right over our table--and subsequently ignoring the patrons. We were not once asked if we'd like another drink (which, by the way were $13, and done by a horrible mixologist) nor were we asked if our food was satisfactory. It was not. My dish was so incredibly undercooked and tasteless that I should have sent it back. Of course, to do so I would have needed adequate service. Boom was a terrible disappointment, and a pricey one at that. We regularly spend $100+ on a meal and leave perfectly satisfied. Tonight, at Boom, we felt like we wasted our money.
