The owners of Boucarou apparently feel that false advertising is an acceptable business practice to bring in customers. On their website and on flyers that they hand out, they clearly promote "a complimentary open bar (FREE) from 9pm to 10pm" every Wednesday... which is a lie. My friend and I went to check this out last Wednesday, and we were immediately told that the free open bar was conveniently not happening that night. However, we were informed that we could pay $25 for their bar special instead. A very shady case of bait 'n switch. Both the bartender and the hostess were incredibly condescending making it seem like I was the one who made a mistake and read the wrong promotion. This was even the case after I politely pointed out a flyer that they visibly had in the bar. Boucarou definitely failed my expectation. I wouldn't believe any promises or promotions they make after this experience.

I rented out this space for a private party. I was not impressed by the service at all. The management we worked with was awful- unprofessional, unfriendly, hostile, and rude. It seemed like boucarou is trying to act more swanky than it actually is. The decor was mediocre at best, with a few couches surrounding an area for dancing, and the lighting was way too bright and not suited for a nighttime party. The music selection was horrible, as the DJ made original (albeit terrible) versions of popular songs by mixing them in jarring and unpleasing combinations. The only nice part of the venue was the bathroom, which was actually quite nice.

It was recommended I have my birthday dinner here, and what a mistake. the service was TERRIBLE and management was rude and unprofessional. I had reservation for 15 and we were there for over 1/2 hour before offered a a drink or menus. We had to start ordering from the bar because the service was so slow and the waitress was new and untrained ( she had no idea which drink was what, let alone to whom it belonged). When mgmt was approached, the excuse was not enough staff and a packed house. Although I had a party of 30, 15 for dinner we were largely ignored. I tried to cancel the food after 2 hours of waiting because we had someplace else to go, and the manager threw a fit and offered no apology for the wait. The food was good when it finally arrived, unfortunately by this point nobody wanted it and just wanted to get the hell out of there.

I've been to Boucarou a number of times, all of which have been fun. The food is actually quite delicious, which is definitely out of the ordinary for a nightclub. If you don't get anything else, remember to try the french fries! The place doesn't really get moving until 11:30 or so, which means it's easy to have a nice dinner and then stay after for when the place becomes a nightclub. The music has been great, making the experiences a lot of fun overall. I definitely plan on coming back!

great waitress, Awesome food, entertaining staff, this restaurant is very unique. You seat and eat on a comfortable couch and the cocktails are awesome, made from homemade purees. The staff is very dedicated and the venue is so beautiful!!! My favorite dish is this french-african lamb peanut butter stew, along with the tempura mushroom. Really one of the best spots of the east village.

Our experience as a whole was excelent. We went to boucarou (hope my spelling is good...) last Thursday and had a blast. This place really anticipates the future of LES. Expensive but still down to earth. Our waitress looked like a model but was also a sweetheart and the food OMG!!!!! unsweetened peanut sauce dish, lambs chops and sushi. We chose to share everything and even got a deal on a rose champagne ( ruinard s'il vu plait). The owner himself was on site, a really cool dude. This place is so refreshing and i can bet will be the best hang out of the city very soon! the crowd was great, everybody was chill and beautiful, bravo ze french men!!!

I've had the pleasure of going to Boucarou on several occasions now and never cease to be impressed by the experience I have. For dinner the menu offers a variety of delicious, French-African inspired dishes and a very impressive sushi menu. The atmosphere for dining is intimate yet inviting with warm low lighting and pleasant music. For nightlife Boucarou becomes incredibly energized, sultry and exciting, with different DJs each weekend night and a live African drummer who turns up the heat for the packed but really fun crowd. The staff is incredibly accomodating, professional and attentive, with absolutely no air of pretentiousness, something I've otherwise found common in the LES. Boucarou will for sure become a very frequent destination of mine!

I came here last Thursday with a small group of friends for happy hour where the drinks were half the price and not only was I pleased with the overall service but the food was great and the ambiance just as good! The atmosphere was very relaxed and trendy. I will absolutely be coming back again especially with such great deals on the drinks and food. My personal favorite was the truffle fries priced at only five dollars.
