We went here last night(Saturday) for my birthday. I am sucker for all you can eat mussels ! The mussels were the best I have ever had...moist, large and succulent! On Saturday night they have a jazz band that is good. What a lovely evening for $18 mussels. I even had a free refill. The fondue looked amazing as did the steak. This is a really good place with friendly and accommodating wait staff. I can't wait to go back!!

We stumbled across this restaurant for an early dinner after spending the day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The ambiance was great, you really felt like you could have stepped off a street in Paris. The waitress was lovely (she was Russian), she was polite and attentive but subtle at the same time. The food was very good and inexpensive. The Mussels (with complimentary refills) were fantastic value at around $16.50. The steak was also very good. I am happy to recommend Brasserie Julien.

I am always looking for a nice place to stop in after a day at the Museum of Art. What a find! Beautiful room, great staff and wonderful food. If you love mussels this is probably the best deal in town on the best mussels. All the other dishes we saw come out of the kitchen looked like works of art. In addition they have live music on the weekends. My only problem with that was it became a little loud for conversation.

My wife and I were lucky enough to get a great table at Brasserie Julien for Valentine's day. I wanted to take her to a very peculiar place to celebrate our 20th anniversary of comon life. I must admit that I have rarely seen such a nice and cosy athmosphere in Upper East Side. A real must!

I agree with the most up-to-date review of this place. My meal was delicious, and the decor is one of the most sultry, beautiful, and warm interiors in the neighborhood. That reviewer from 08/07/04 should be taken off already. I mean, come on...over a year ago and it's still up?! I don't even know what they're talking about with comparing the decor to Olive Garden. Absurd. Go there. Try it out. You'll love it.

While speaking to the manager I was surprised to hear of some of the bad reviews on these sites. Shocked is maybe a better word. My friends and family all know about this restaurant because I can't stop raving about it. You can't please all of the people all of the time. However a 3/10 for this place is ridiculous. Even the Zagat ratings are off. I promised the manager to "prove my love" for this place, so here goes. First of all it's a beautiful space, with great food, and very friendly staff. We celebrated a friend's birthday here recently and we all had a blast. I just wrote another review on one of the other sites, but I figured it was worth an extra few minutes to set the record straight here. I agree with the critic's pick review. You should give it a shot. Remember those relatives you could just never make happy? It's not a chain, it's a family trying to make it in New York and they are doing a great job.

I dont know what editors were thinking. Mussels were shriveled and wine sauce uncooked and harsh. Disengaged service. Bland decor looks like Olive Garden or something and band should have been in a corny hotel lounge. Big disappointment on a special occassion.
