A friend of mine suggested we eat here. Their food was pretty good. Their service was HORRIBLE. The server continuously walked past our table and it required us to flag her down to get any response. They didn't even bring bread to our table until we were almost done with our appetizers. Then when we left, she mistakenly swipped my card twice, causing over $100 in holds on my checking account. She did not even notify me of the error. I called repeated times to speak with a manager and "there was no manager there". What kind of restaruant doesn't have a manager on duty??? If you go here, ONLY PAY CASH. The charges are still pending almost a week later.

I love going to Bread. It is my favorite spot when I come to visit NYC. I am half Italian, also lived in Italy for several years, and when I go to Bread I feel like I'm eating REAL Italian food. I'm very picky about food. Italian food to be exact. Their prices are more than fair for the amount of food (hard to find in manhattan). Friendly, and not to mention good looking staff. Great location. It is next to soho, and other cool spots if you are visiting NYC. If you haven't been here yet. You are definitely missing out.

My boyfriend and I just ordered takeout - a sandwich and the lamb ragu. while the food tasted good, it was not anything spectacular. The portions were so small that it was laughable. We're sitting here wondering what we want to actually have for dinner now. We had high expectations, but unfortunately were disappointed. Maybe it would have been better if we ate in the restaurant and didn't do delivery.

If my date hadn't taken me here I am not certain he would have gotten a kiss at the end of the night. This place definitely set the mood. From the lighting and music to the great food. I was pleasantly surprised both by how good it was and his ability to choose such a hip venue. I will be back, maybe not with him but certainly for the food.

I have been to Bread MANY times and think the food is yummy but was beyond P.O.ed last time I went there. I made a reservation earlier in the week for 10 people at 9pm on Saturday. I was told a manager would call me later in the week to plan the menu. By friday no one called me so I called Bread again and they said my reservation had not been entered properly BUT i could rebook it and it wouldnt be a problem . I called again Saturday morning just to make sure everything was okay and they told me they screwed up again and had double booked their big tables and I could no longer come! So damn annoying and not a way to run a business! Where are 10 people on a Saturday supposed to go at the last minute?? I'm so over this place

Soup and 1/2 a sandwich: the perfect cure on a rainy day

It was a blustery, rainy and freezing cold April 1st. I found myself at Spring Street. "I need some soup!" I thought. My friend typed in "soup" on his iphone and said "There's this place called Bread just a block away." GREAT. What a stroke of luck. The restaurant is cute and cozy. Spanish ska music was bubbling through the speakers. Our table had cute little vases with bright yellow flowers. We all got the lunch special- soup & 1/2 a sandwich. $10. A deal! The food was so delicious. I had split pea soup which tasted perfect and a salami panini with tellagio and olive tapenade. YUM. The sandwich came with a nice little side mesclun salad drizzled with a vinaigrette. Even though it was 1/2 a sandwich it was a generous half and it was a good sized bowl of soup. (not a cup.) We also had some bread and olive oil/balsamic to dip in as well. Just a cute cozy warm cafe with great art on the walls, lots of chic people... it was just what we needed on this gray day!!

I love Bread. I go whenever I'm in the Soho area. Ive been to many American Italian or poser italiano restaurants in the city, but after spending a month in Northern Italy two years ago, this is one of the few places comparable to true Italiano cuisine.

I keep on going back - I love the atmosphere as well as the menu. You can always count on the food to be good and the service to surpass your expectations. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to people that are in Soho or tourists in the area that don't want a crowded out-of-town spot. It is very relaxed and that is what makes it so great.

What can I say other than this place is a must. I've been to NY many times & go back to Bread time after time. The service is great, the ambience, the music, the food, the wine, the atmosphere. It's a 10/10 everytime. It's got the whole package. Nice one Bread for never disappointing.

Uber Lame Hippster Eatery

In search of Sunday brunch in Nolita I stumbled across this little restaurant when I first walked in I was greeted by the most obnoxious uber wannabe hipster waiter who was put out by my arrival god for bid he do his job. The menu was heavy and offered no brunch options except the granola, yogurt and fresh fruit which they were out of. I ordered the sausage and roasted potatoes which was room temperature the coffee was burnt and the whole meal just sucked. I felt the overall restaurant was a product of 1995 when Calvin Kline was the all rage and minimalist interiors were chic the overall experience was cold and unwelcoming and with it’s to cool demeanor that was just lame and cheesy. My advices to the consumer don’t go!!! There plenty of other cute places with better food and service. To the owners lose the obnoxious servers hire new cooks and turn up the heat.
