Bway East is a wonderful restaurant, the food is imaginatively done as are its cocktails. The space is lovely, a real haven in NYC in fact. The staff are friendly and warm. Prices are quite fair as well. NYC needs more decent vegetarian and vegan restaurants and the ones who are on the forefront bravely need our support. Go.

I went on a Friday night with a couple of friends. The space is really beautiful and has a cool live green wall that gives the space a lush, tropical feeling, definitely a bright spot for the neighborhood. We were greeted right away and recommended some cocktails. I decided on the Berried Treasure although sweeter than I generally drink it was refreshing. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She told us about their new chef and the Greenmarket Prix Fixe. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about $25 for three courses. I chose the gazpacho, Cavatelli pasta and the Neapolitan for dessert. The gazpacho was really unique with fruit flavors but well balanced with just the right acidity and salt. The pasta had a really fresh texture and a pungent but yummy mushroom sauce. The dessert was well executed but rich for such a large serving. I was surprised how large the portions were. I will be back to try some of the other entrees because I am intrigued by the variety of fresh fish options and the use of local and seasonal ingredients. All in all it was a good experience and I will be returning.

I saw a sign in front about their $25 prix fixe menu and decided to eat here. I had the gazpacho and pasta, which was delicious. For dessert, I had the strawberry shortcake. It was fluffy and decadent. They gave generous amounts for each course, and my $25 dollars went a long way. They said that they change their prix fixe menu every week. I plan to come again soon.

We arrived at 8pm and did not get out of the restaurant until 10:45...and the restaurant was almost empty. When we actually got our food the quality was decent, certainly not noteworthy. The blueberry margarita was lousy at best. It tasted like tequila with some fruit punch in it. Not worth $11 by any stretch. Our server, who never smiled once, and actually seemed to dislike her job (even though we were the only ones in the dining room) was awful. I think the only time she was attentive is when we asked for the bill and it was back in our hands in about 15 seconds. This place was awful. I would never go back, recommend it to anyone or even hope to get a comped meal or drink there because of the bad service because I hope to never go back there again.

A small group, we visited on the weekend. It was empty upon arrival.
The 1st disappointment: Condescending attitude from our waitress upon inquiring about the brunch time (some are accustom to brunch ending@1pm). She gave the definition of brunch&added, "so there—now you know.”
The 2nd: When 2 of us ordered special drinks, she explained, "well the other peoples' drinks are included in the meal while both of yours will be extra, which is more.." insinuating that we couldn’t afford drinks & didn’t read the menu. To that, we ordered plain oj (included)&she paused and told us we could still order the drinks, attempting to reverse the awkward statement. We repeated the plain drink order and continued conversation.
The 3rd: One plate was visibly dirty! The waitress, inattentive (didn’t serve us, a busboy did), agreed it was dirty. She claimed that she didn’t see the plate&had she, she wouldn’t have allowed it.It was taken back(per our request) &wegot a new one.Food was average.Theplate was removed fromthe bill, but the damage was done by the unnecessary snobby manner. We had dessert elsewhere because this service was SO uncomfortably awful.

Great food, very fresh and healthy but still a lot of attention to detail! Was perfect as I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend a carnivore and we both found dishes we loved. Waitstaff is friendly and hip, great music, and afterwards we went downstairs and had a few more drinks and danced. Definitely coming back

BE was everything we expected it to be. From the moment we tried one of the outrageous cocktails, we knew it'd be a really good meal. The greenmarket salad has all sorts of treats from the market (carrot nuggets) (mung bean sprouts).
Dessert was chill (ice cream sandwiches) it was so good! The atmosphere with the exposed brick was beautiful! After 11pm the place turned into a zoo, Madonna walked in...

We tried Broadway East on a Friday night but arrived just as the kitchen closed. The decor alone was enough to bring us back and when we read the menu our group decided we needed to give it another go on Sunday. Our perseverance was rewarded with an excellent and healthy dinner. We started with the salad special of bib lettuce, strawberries, chives and hazelnuts in a light dressing. The only thing I would have changed was slicing the hazelnuts that were left whole and impossible to get on a fork. The wild sockeye salmon entree made me believe in salmon again. I find it very hard to get good wild salmon. The portions were perfect and everything was well seasoned. Try the homemade kukicha cola for a tasty soda alternative. The service is less than spectacular but they were knowledgeable and as attentive as possible given that they were clearly running the show with a VERY limited staff. The overall vibe is great for a special night out and any parents of young kids - leave the babes at home if you are coming for dinner.

I have officially given up on Broadway east. It's quite a disappointment as I was really excited by the concept. I tried out the restaurant when it first opened: the service that first time was truly horrible, it took 2 hours to get our entrees and the waitress was surly and either unwilling or unable to refill our water. The food however was excellent, with very interesting and daring combinations. There was a cod dish that was truly out of this world. I attributed these hiccups to opening week jitters and an incompetent waitress, and figured i would give the restaurant another shot in a few months. Well I was there again this weekend, and sadly, I can't report that things have improved. We had a reservation for 9 and ended up getting seated at 10. It then took another 1 hour to get our entrees and we didn't eat until 11. The food was very disappointing as well: my spaetzle were completely overcooked and oversalted. On the positive side, the waiter was very apologetic, and they comped our appetizers, but that doesn't make up for getting the basics right. ... don't waste your time.
