Never. Again. Go to Atera where chef Matthew Lightner delivers on the promise of what a Chef's Table can be. Or Blue Hill at Stone Barns where Dan Barber has consistently provided me with the best food I've ever eaten. If you want sashimi, go to 15 East where in my opinion, they serve the best Japanese food in this city bar none. Including sushi and sashimi. I've already contacted Michelin and asked them to explain how this restaurant deserves three stars.
Amuse bouche elevated to an art form

The real highlights of this bajillion-course meal was the slew of one-bite amuses that preceded the official, pre-printed menu. In particular: an oyster with yuzu gelee, king crab with a sliver of watermelon radish, a completely elevating cube of compressed watermelon with olive oil and sea salt. The rest was good, but compared to the Le Bernardin-esque studied simplicity of those sharp, hyper-flavorful elements, the multi-component mains (black bass AND cod cheek AND squid AND escargot on the same three-bite plate?) were a little muddy. In any case, bite for bite it's maybe the best use of $135 in the city right now - all the more so while it's still BYO.
