Before I went to Bukhara, I did some research. This site, NYTimes and Behind the Burner were the best three I found to help me and in the end I did enjoy myself. There's actually a video on Behind the Burner that has Vicky Vij making some delicious chicken dish, I suggest checking it out!

I love this place. It may not be for everyone. If you expect cheap east villiage style McIndian food, you're in for a let down. This is real Indian food, not as tampered with for the American palate. The marinated mushrooms are great, the lamb is fantastic, and the vegi dishes are all great. The staff is very sweet, if you need anything all you need to do is ask. Often, but not always, they give free deserts after the meal or side dishes with the meal. It is quiet enough to have a conversation and without a doubt the cleanest Indian restaurant in the city. It is one of my favorite Indian places.

Heard positive things, but very disappointed. Compared to other Indian restaurants, the food was very heavy and less flavorful. The chicken entree was good, but the bread was served cold and was not up to par. The service was ok, but when one dish was inedible (and untouched) noone inquired about whether anything was wrong with it. It was a holiday evening and we were finishing our wine (after only being there for about 45 minutes) and they asked us to leave because there were people waiting for tables. Overall, there are many better and less expensive Indian restaurants all around Manhattan.
