A friend of mine is on a quest to visit all the historic bars in NYC during her visits. We went with a group to the Bull and Bear to find horrible drinks and extremely poor service. How hard is it to mix a vodka and cranberry? Sadly, nothing about the experience came close to our expectations. Skip it!

My out-of-town-friends invited me to join then here and was excited to dine in midtown. The atmosphere was quiet, uncomfortable and the only noise seemed to be coming from the occasional 'clang' of silverware. I ordered the duck entree which was very dry probably because I think it sat under the heat lamp too long. Also our waiter was terribly rude and even commented that we were not eating/drinking enough to make our check higher.

I took my boyfriend here yesterday for his birthday. The decor was really fancy. Much of what you would expect from the Waldorf. The crowd was very old man business type. I had the filet and it was "good." Nothing spectacular. As I was eating I thought, Â“this is good.Â” I wasn't overwhelmed with happiness as to the flavor as I have been with other meals and/or other filets. My bf ordered the porterhouse and from what I tasted it was also Â“good.Â” Again, no overwhelming happiness feeling. We had the hash browned potatoes and onion rings which to me were okay. All in all, it was a good to okay dinner but combining that with the almost $200 check I was hit with, I would NOT go to this place again. If I'm shelling out $150+ for a meal for 2, I would like that overwhelming feeling of happiness while I'm eating. Food-good. Service-average. There was nothing besides the fancy decor that would warrant me spending this amount of money. Overall, a poor value.

The filet with bearnaise sauce was amazing! The blue cheese dressing is also wonderful! This was the best meal that I ate while in New York. You definitely get great food for the price.

On my 2nd visit to the B&B everyone remembered my last visit and thanked me graciouslly for returning and they mentioned how exceptionally beautiful my date was, well that impressed her. The food has been consistantly fabulous, the service top-shelf. Try the Sea Bass as well as the beef. Your in for a real treat. Interesting enough I've seen several celebrities there as well.

... in terms of food, service and ambiance. Not a better looking nor powerful feeling cow palace in the city. BandB's aged prime Angus beef (most other Angus emporiums in town serve choice)reminds me of the steaks of my childhood with robust flavor and a senuous succulence. Attentive service from a professional - as opposed to just passing through - wait staff is the icing on the cake.
