An Utter Disappointment
By Chiara_M on 7/2/2011
This place was an utter disappointment. Food preparation was soooo slow. Everyone (in the street level space) waited and waited and ... At one point, a cook stepped forward to yell at co-workers. The exchange was in Spanish so I had no idea what was said. The Junior Deal was standard fare. The burger tasted decent but was quite small. The sweet potato fries were not fresh and flavorless. Overall, the meal was a poor value. Most notably, though, was the unresponsive / unprofessional service. It took multiple requests of several people to get a fork. One person told me to sit down and he'd get one for me. Instead, he focused his efforts on chatting with young women in the shop. Another person finally ran upstairs to the bar for a fork. Ultimately, it was the horrendous service that convinced me not to return.
the "mac n cheese burger"

should be retitled as a "Under Cooked Burger with a couple noodles inside and a small side of cheese sauce" If you were picturing a nice 8oz burger (cooked the way you asked) with a pile of mac n cheese (of the 4 cheese blended variety)...you will be as let down as we were. After 3 months of being super healthy and gluten free we wanted the ultimate burger for a rough friday. At first we thought we had the wrong burger BUT THEN we cut it in half and to our surprise we found 4 or 5 elbow noodles popping out to say hello..so i guess the next move is to pour the thin "4" cheese sauce on top. Lack luster at best if it still sounds good here is a guide line for ordering if you order rare - it will come as a cow medium rare - packaged ground beef medium - super rare medium well - rare well done - MAYBE just MAYBE medium if you want it cooked anymore than that i think you have to tell them to burn the hell out of it enjoy!
I thought I'd give it a try...

We live downtown, and took a chance on Burger Shoppe... I was really disappointed. The room needs work, and the food is way overpriced for what you are getting. Everything except the plate itself is take-out style (totally wasteful, plastic fork/knife, plastic cup, tiny take out napkins, mayo in a packet), the shake was watery and whack, and the fries were mealy and overcooked. The burgers were mediocre, nothing special and drowned in "Shoppe Sauce"... I don't mind their whole concept, the small burgers and malt shop vibe, etc. but the execution is really lacking. I will not be back. Maybe when it's lunch time people's expectations are lower?
ugh no more

terrible food, overpriced for what it is, dirty, burgers are tiny, overcooked, dry and overall disgusting. I came here first when they just opened, and was disappointed right away. I have decided to give it another chance some time ago to see if maybe they needed another chance: sometimes when the place is new they need to adjust and workout some details... Nope, not this time, not here. NEVER again.

I go here to treat myself almost every Friday, I love it. It's always bustling, but the line moves quickly, and it's like stepping back into an old time soda shop. The burgers are not huge, but I like not feeling nausious-ly overfull for lunch so it's perfect for me. There are also great specials for getting two burgers, which might explain why it's usually 99% men in line.

i stumbled onto this place with a co-worker and we were in the mood for a burger. we sat upstairs. first i will say, the burgers are on the small side for the price. i ordered the regular shoppe burger with swiss and fries and was in no way disappointed. 5 minutes after ordering and just when i was thinking that the waiter didnt ask me how i wanted my burger, it arrived, on a regular plate no less (in reference to the previous reviewer). It was SO juicy and flavorul and perfectly done medium. it was pipinig hot and delicious. i was a little less estatic about the fries but they were still good. it was a perfect place for lunch and a quick lunch. we got there right before the lunch rush.. so i would say go early.
Dirty shoppe with cold burgers and fake fries
By timandesther on 3/28/2008
Very disapointing. All food was served in take out containers eventhough we were eating in. so wasteful. Burgers were cold and the fries were oily and made from cheap potato sustitute. Trash cans were overflowing and no napkings were stocked on the tables. Yuk!
