I was expecting a fantabulous melt in your mouth burger, but found it be pretty average. The meat and size of the burger was great but the bread and french fries were dull. Hidden in the corner with curtains, I expected to walk into THE burger joint. Sadly, I was disappointed. It wasn't terrible but not fantastic. An average joe.

I don't get it. Went yesterday for the first time. Burger ordered medium rare showed up overcooked, and on lackluster bun. Fries were nothing special, nor was shake. What's all the fuss?

This place really tries its hardest to be just a hole in the wall. The atmosphere is great, nice tunes, a good vibe, not too loud. The burgers are good - standard quality a step up from fast food type burgers. They are not particularly huge, which I think is a good thing. However, if you get the works the onion was sliced pretty thick and overpowered a lot of the other flavors. Basically, 5 guys make a better burger. The cooking is the definition of inconsistent (my med. rare was med well, my gfs med rare was rare). The fries are ok - if anyone has ever been to a Steak & Shake - these are comparable. The beer is tasty. There are better burgers to be had for the $31 that a plate of fries, two cheeseburgers, and two beers gets you.

The burgers melt in your mouth and they are so good you almost inhale them! Fries are served hot, not like most restaurants. And to think that I met Paul Rudd and Jason Segel! Weh hew! And might I add that the Burger Joint was my first pit stop and I bumped into two Hollywood stars! Well worth the wait.

Being a bit of a burger harlot, I've been to most so-called best burger places in NY. So far, this is probably the first that has actually stood up to it's acclaim. The burger was juicy and delicious, and the fries were hot, fresh and perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back soon. Maybe even tonight... Hmmmm...

It's crowded, but there's a reason for that - cheap, juicy burgers and beer! It's quirky decor reminds me of burger joints in the small town I grew up in - no frills, just good food. Feels very authentic.

it was O K but is it worth $7?
I feel sad that it's hard to find cheap & good food here.

I stumbled upon Burger Joint late on a Friday night with no expectations. What I got was a delicious burger on perfectly toasted buns, great fries, and good beer for an amazing price (I recommend getting a pitcher of Sam Adams if with a group--the value was astonishing.) My friends and I ended up staying and chatting for over an hour, ordering more food, and loving the oldies jukebox-style classics that kept playing over the speakers. At one point during our meal "You've Lost that Lovin Feeling" came on and everyone in the restaurant started singing. What more can I say?

Fabulous burgers and fries. Great value for a burger in the city. Worth the sometimes long wait in line. Go with a friend so they can scoop up seats while you wait in line. Decor is unimportant in a burger place, so don't expect much. Know what you want and be ready to pay when you get to the front of the line and you won't have any problems with service. Tried the brownie...it was only average. Good luck finding it!
