I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is delicious and authentic, and the portions are great. The restaurant also has a great wine list. Everything is made that much more enjoyable by the friendly staff. This is a great spot!

I was gifted a $40 gift certificate to this place from a friend who spoke so highly of it. I should have asked her what she ordered because I went with my partner and we were both disappointed by our meals. I ordered the seafood of the day, which I assumed would be fresh since, you know, it's "of the day". Basically it was deep fried calamari, shrimp, and cod. I have to say, I wouldn't surprise me if it were thawed seafood reheated in the oven. It wouldn't be worth $10 and it certainly wasn't worth the $25 I was charged. I honestly couldn't believe the poor quality of the food, but reading other reviews here, maybe I just had an off dish? Service and decor were satisfactory, but still lacking given the prices. But this is New York and one off dish is enough for me never to come back.

I love this place: pizzas are really traditionally Italian (unlike those of the 'Napolitan-trend) and pastas are excellent (try pasta con le sarde). Cozy and simple ambience.

I can't speak for its Sicilian authenticity, but we had a great meal. The rack of lamb was among the best I've had, and I've had many: juicy, deep pink and very tender. Excellent tomato and onion salad, and an inventive and tasty rolled beef main course as well. Tables are tight together, but in a friendly, trattoria atmosphere it seems to work. Staff were genuinely friendly, and they knew the wine list, which had a lot of Sicilian bottles you might not see elsewhere. By all means go.

Just ordered... and ate a bit of "Origanata Siciliana",... when the Pizza was delivered, about 50 minutes after I ordered it, it was almost totally cold. I wouldn't mind.. but moreover the bottom was black, completly burned, which made the whole pizza taste a bit burned... morover it was kinda dry.. topping were fresh and tasty but u just tasted the burned bottom......... i have to say i am really dissapointed :(( would not reccomend the pizza, at least not pizza delivery... other dishes may be really good, pizza isn't...

For a $20 pizza (appetizer for 4), I would much sooner go to East Village italian "peers" Gnocco, APizz, or Three of Cups for authentic brick over pizza.

This is one of NYC's best kept secrets! It is la piccola sicilia of New York! Chef Salvatore Fraterrigo (who wrote a book on Sicilian food in Italy) surprises you with solare flavor pairings. Giusto, the owner, treats you as if you are a part of his Sicilian famiglia when you eat at his table. I spend most of my time creating culinary tours to Sicily and so I am fortunate enough to eat in Sicily most of the time. But when I am in NY, this is the only place where I can taste authentic flavors of la bella Sicilia. They also offer tastings and pizza party nights now and then. How does swordfish with bread crumbs, capers, green olives, zucchini and mint sauce sound. Tuna with fresh herb cous cous. I tried shrimp with fava beans and fennel! Mamma mia! Che Buono! If you go just tell them Renee sent you! Please check my blog www.lemonsandoregano.com for info about my adventures and tours in Sicilia. Un caro saluto, Renee www.reneerestivo.com www.soulofsicily.com
