I will never ever ever ever ever try to go here again. I don't care how amazing the food is supposed to be. Made a reservation two weeks in advance, but I should have known something was off when the woman on the phone almost forgot to take my name. And she didn't even ask for a phone number. Cut to the day of the reservation and my train was late, so I had to move the reservation back 30 minutes. Called on the phone and got the same schpiel, but was assured the time change was fine. When we finally arrived, people were standing out on the sidewalk- many of whom said they had a reservation, but had been waiting 20 minutes already for the hostess to "be right back." When the party of 8 in front of us was finally "helped" to a table, it took the servers an additional 10+ minutes just to get the table ready for them. To make matters worse, some other people who were waiting questioned the status of their wait with the hostess at one point, and she gave them extreme attitude, nearly yelling at them: "Your table will be ready when I say it's ready." I'm not even kidding. It doesn't matter if someone doesn't show up to work or WHATEVER it was that happened that day (or maybe it's always like that?), there is NO EXCUSE for this kind of treatment of your customers. Finally my cousin and I went to a place next door and were seated IMMEDIATELY. The end. (I gave the food a 5 because I have no idea if it's good- I didn't get to eat it)
Cafe Cortadito, LOST IT!!!

lost their charm, their local customer and even more their social responsibility. its a waste of time going there. the hostess is very unprofessional without any system of management!!! Unaware and insensitive!!! Not even considering how they affect the foot traffic blockage they have caused in our neighborhood. hey neighbors and reviewers lets pull together and make cafe cortadtio feel how they have ignored and lost their neighborhood!!! Lets boycott cafe cordadito until they realized where they stand in our neighborhood!!!

A couple of weeks ago our group of 9 went there for dinner. The place looked very cozy to get together with friend for good meal. We had a 7pm reservation. Our table was set and ready on time. We had 3 pitchers of delicious sangria, each person got an appetizer and main dish. The food was nothing spectacular but good. In the middle of our dinner the staff started to rush us out. We were the biggest table there at the time and probably the highest paying. But as other people started to walk in, they just wanted to get us out. That killed the entire evening for us. We did not even want to stay for dessert and spend an extra penny there. If they treat good paying customers like this... The food was not good enough to overlook this kind of treatment. Would never go back there and would not recomment to anybody.

I went with 3 friends and we all had an amazing time. The food was delicious and different; the ambiance dark and inviting. Definitely a great pick, the staff was helpful and very nice. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend the calamari.

Charming, cozy, romantic with delicious food. I had the amazing oxtails once and the Cuban steak another time. Both wonderful. Ask for their hot sauce on the side. Their white sangria is the perfect complement to everything.

I have always had the best experiences at Cafe Cortadito. Even when I have had to wait for a table, the owners are nice and take the time to be friendly - even offering wine while we waited! The restaurant is no longer BYOB so the other reviews that comment on issues regarding this should be disregarded. Authentic cuban food - always cooked to perfection. Everything on the menu is terrific. They really do take care - there is a reason this restaurant has been featured in the NY Times twice!

Stopped in ater a show! Very small and cozy...Had a half pitcher of sangria and it was perfect! Can't vouch for everything, but my friend and I did share an order of rice and black beans with maduros that was to die for! Would definitely go back!
Charming, Fine Cuban Cuisine (No longer BYOB)

It should be noted that this restaurant is no longer BYOB, and I think, that does take away from it's value overall. The decor, though is quite charming (certainly it's strongest point) and the food is good, not spectacular, but good. Prices for entrees range from the upper teens to the mid-to-higher twenties which may be a bit pricey for what it's worth, but not outlandish. The service is only OK: if you attempt to linger, you will surely be pressured to wrap up. While my visits have certainly been less frequent, it's still a place that I enjoy. Great for dates!

Surprised to hear that anyone has had a positive experience with the owner of this place. Went here last night and had reservations for a going away party. As soon as we got there, the owner started yelling at us about being late. After being seated, we asked about uncorking wine because we thought it was BYOB. The owner started rudely arguing with us about about the fact that on their website it had talked about an uncorking fee. " I'm the owner, and I know what's on my website!" Regardless of the website, the owner was extremely rude to her customers. She seemed to have an attitude that she was doing us a HUGE favor by allowing us to eat at her restaurant, as opposed to being grateful for business. We left before even eating, so I don't know what the food is like. We all decided we didn't want to celebrate a special occasion here. I've been in New York for a while, and have never encountered a ruder owner. Would NEVER go back to this place and NEVER suggest it.
