Well I like it... Attentive service, good simple food at affordable prices, airy ambience, and unusual wines from Alpine regions, making it unique in my book. Dunno why some folk are down on it. Could have done without the unpleasant duo at the next table whining incessantly about how everyone in London - my home - is (a) a lazy alcoholic, and (b) thinks they're superior. I had to order another lunchtime drink and cancel my meetings before lecturing them in a supercilious fashion...

This place is plain cool. Despite of all the flak that it got from being associated with Serge Becker, it's a completely different beast from his other projects. Food is good, with swiss classics like roesti and schnitzel among the more adventuresome items like burrata with heirloom tomatoes and my favorite, mushrooms on grilled bread with a poached duck egg and asparagus, talk about decadent. Service can be off-putting, with a grouchy looking manager, and inattentive staff. Can be a pretty cheap place to eat if you're careful with what you're ordering. Lunches are definetely a bargain, most of the menu is under $15 and the sandwiches are killer

I don't know why the other reviews here are so negative, but I really like cafe select. It's a bit sceney, but unpretentious about it (crowd is often very mixed, old and young, etc). The service could be improved, but the food is solid and reasonably priced. The schnitzel and the cauliflower salad are personal favorites.

They seem to have imported everything except for the food quality. While Swiss restaurants tend to serve good quality food, service is almost always slow and unfriendly, unless you hit a top shelf place. Cafe Select seems to have imported all these bad qualities and paired with it with sub-standard food. Go to Switzerland if you want to wait 45 minutes for disappointing food in a half empty restaurant.
