We enjoyed a lovely lunch here, with attentive wait staff and elegant, richly satisfying food. The wine we chose, a biodynamic pinot noir from Oregon, was one of the best we've tasted, and its price was fair. The avocado-jicama tartare and wild mushroom stuffed tempeh were excellent. This is a restaurant which will please all palates.

Every time I've ever gone here, the food has been fantastic. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the environment inviting. Its my favorite place on the UES.

The Best Restaurant I have ever experienced. The food is wonderfully fresh. It is vegetarian and vegan but my carnivore relatives adored it! My super picky stepdad exclaimed that he enjoyed the best risotto that he ever experienced in his life. Sorbet has always been a dessert that I have been lukewarm about, but Candle 79's homemade sorbet sampler is worth going "ga ga" over! They also offer great specials. Nice, romantic and comfortable atmosphere. Perfect for special occasions.
