Me and my boyfriend went there for restaurant week, and we thought because of some of the few positive reviews this place would be good. Unforgettably, Capsouto Freres was the worst restaurant I have ever ate in. The servers were extremely rude and denied to bring us more water. The service was terrible and when we got our disgusting food it was cold. When we looked around, we saw many people complaining to the owner about the terrible food.

This, by far, was one of my worst experiences. We made reservations for close to 20 people to celebrate my birthday. Despite plenty of space in the corner, the owner (whom we communicated a few times prior to the occasion, and explained what we were hoping for), divided us into two separate tables. This was really exceedingly uncomfortable and NOT what we wanted. We made it very clear to him that we wanted one table because people wanted to express themselves, and this was impossible for others to hear, in this setting. Yet, he would NOT change the setting! The food was far from being great. Further more, throughout the evening, the waiters kept pouring wine into empty glass without asking if guests wanted more wine, thus there were countless wine bottles opened without our knowledge. The bill for the wine alone, at the end of the evening was close to a $900! This was outrageous! Plus, there were some gifts missing, including envelopes with cash and gift certificates! I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone!

My husband and I had dinner in a different restaurant and decided to take a walk as it was a beautiful night for November. I saw this building and thought it was beautiful. I said let me go take a look and get some information as I am planning a birthday celebration. As I came in a friendly employee greeted me and I took a pack of matches for the name. I asked if I could look around and use the restroom, he directed me to it and smiled. When I returned an older man said YES. I said hello I just came in to look and get a card, he interrupted me and said"I saw you BARGE INN and wondered what you want. I repeated I am sorry and said perhaps I'd better put this card down his rudeness was so off-putting even though I love French country food and the look of the place I'd never come back

I tried this restaurant during restaurant week and regular dinner prices. A failure everytime. This place relies on tourists and those who don't know any better about fine food. Don't go here.

Our group was seriously misled, resulting in a bill that was hundreds of dollars more than expected. The managers were arrogant and dishonest in handling the situation… The website offers a $35 fixed price menu. Our group arranged in advance for the fixed price menu and at the restaurant, we were offered menus similar to the one on the web. When our bill came we found instead that we had been charged full a per dish rate and the per person food bill was double. We were told that some of the items offered on our menu were not included as part of the fixed price and therefore they couldn’t offer the fixed price rate. After 30 minutes of number crunching the management offered to provide us the food portion at an increased rate of $45/head. The group waited for over an hour to get our revised bills and coffee that never came. When our credit card slips did return they had added back 90% of the costs they told us they were discounting.

In TriBeCa for nearly thirty years, Capsouto Frèresmay not be the best restaurant you've ever visited, but it certainly will rank among the most delightful. Decor is elegant and casual at the same time, and although the destination may be off the beaten path, the menu is stocked with familiar French standards such as duck confit, steak au poivre and steak frites. Skip the artichoke du maison (one of the few over-priced and disappointing appetizers) but DO order a souffle for dessert at the start of the meal. Hazelnut is the owner favorite. The overall feel of Capsouto Frères is old world complete with generously spaced tables, ample but not too bright lighting and lace curtains. A fantastic place for a quiet, understated romantic dinner or lovely brunch with the family.

The first time I entered Capsouto, I was completely surprised. You would never expect to find such a serene and attractive place amongst the UPS warehouses near the Holland Tunnel. I have been back for many special occasions and it is a favorite place to take out-of-town guests. You can actually have a conversation and the tables are not packed together. They have a great brunch menu, an extensive wine/drink list, and consistently yummy food. As a vegetarian, it is hard to find a place to please both carnivores and plant/dairy eaters. They have always been extremely accomodating of my needs and the dessert souffles are excellent! Great place for a date or a small party of friends.

This is a wonderful restaurant. We had our engagement dinner here and our families from out of town loved, as did all our friends from the city. The food is great and the family atmosphere tones down the chic tribeca attidtude to a comfortable level.

Their pre-fix lunch is an amazing deal. Service is very attentive & professional. Space needs to be updated though.

Went last night for the first time and I'll definitely be back! While the neighborhood is a bit intimidating, the decor is terrific and the food outstanding, particularly given the moderate (for Manhattan prices). Terrific service and a surprisingly elegant price fixe at dinner! What a nice surprise!
