Celiac and Gluten free Sensitive

Upon arrival at Carmine's earlier today I informed the head waiter, Scott, that I am Celiac and need to eat gluten free. He was amazingly knowledgeable and accommodating. I was with a group and despite their having previously chosen the dishes to be served, he and Carmine's were more than willing to ensure that I had gluten free options available. Thumbs up to Scott and Carmine's.
I would not order in again.

had some friends for Friday night and decided to ordered in from Carmains upper west side. To start with - Food that i got (waited about an hour) was overcooked. Than - a $70 steak that I ordered was missing. i called the restaurant and was promised that the steak will be send right away. An hour later i called again trying to understand where my steak is. I got a very rude attitude from the manager. he suggest to send me a new steak, saying i should wait around 40 minutes. So i should expect the steak 4HR after my original order... Not a very nice Friday experience.

I went here with a bit of a snobby attitude. All I had know of Carmine's was that it was a lot of food and not a lot of excitement. Being not the biggest fan of red-sauced Italian-American food, I was dreading my experience here, but I was indeed surprised. We opted for a salad with roasted vegetables to start and it was delicious. The veggies were so flavorful, no dressing or olive oil required. (I gladly took leftovers home for the work week - here is where the ridiculous portions come in handy) For the main course, we split the Chilean Sea Bass special and again I was surprised. The meal was a refreshing discourse from the hearty, over-indulgent foods that you hear about at Carmine's. I will say it again, I was pleasantly surprised. The only problem is because the restaurant is family style, you and your party have to be on the same page or else you could be stuck with spaghetti and meatballs.

If big is what you want, big is what you will get. From the moment you walk in, you see amazing, yet casual decor and you can feel and smell the warm italian essence come to life around you. Along with foot long plates of six inch high greens, the entrees are no different. My traditonal meal consisted of al dente fettechini, cooked absolutly to perfection, warm, and perfect texture, marinara, topped with, not one but five, baseball sized meatballs.
BRING YOUR APPETITE. I DID!

We went there for Christmas eve without reservations and they did their best to seat us and only in 45 min. This is the place to eat if you like a casual atmosphere and family style eating. The meals come out on platters with enough for 3-4 people to share on each. We ordered meatballs as an appetizer (8 large meatballs) along with chicken parm and veal marsala as the entrees. Needless to say the three of us could not finish everything. I'm sure the fried calimar the table next to us couldn't eat and passed on to us didn"t help. Sooooo good! Don't leave with out getting the Titanic for dessert. A layered ice cream dessert about the size of a loaf of bread. Can't wait to visit my daughter again so I can go back.
