i was very unhappy the service, our server's attitude was so rude and unpleasant.we felt like been looked upon by him, it wasn't quality service at all.

partly because they don't have a brunch menu, but also because the choices are limited, very, very heavy, and ultimately unsatisfactory

The waitor stood by the table rushing to take our plates, it was obvious he wanted us out of there quick. The food was ok, very small portions and high prices.....There are many better options for tapas in NYC!!

Expecting bona fide tapas and a wide variety, we were first brow-beaten by the waitress, who was intent on ridiculing our wine choices, then only to bring on tapas americanized to full-size entrees. The much-praised(and tapa-sized) tripe had a vinegary/formaldehyde sting on the palate and the goat carcass passing for another tapa plate was massive enough not to leave any room/courage/appetite for further variety.

great food and coffe shop fast food service - got rushed through meal and had check in front of me before i finished. my protest went unanswered by waiter and owner - both unprofessional and ungracious, they could have not cared less - just there to make the bucks and no clue how to be a restaurateur - if Mario only knew....

My first experience at Casa Mono was fairly enjoyable. The place is small and cozy, and sometimes you are in the mood for that and sometime you'e not. I sat at the "bar" that faces the chefs as they cook. Overall, I enjoyed the wine list, quite extensive, and the food was good as I recall. However, I returned a couple of weeks ago and after choosing two small plates to begin with but was informed by the waiter that it was the policy of the restaurant that all plates be ordered at once. I had know idea what I would want through out the evening, and as far as I was concerned this "policy" is the antithesis of a tapas place. So, basically, what I had hoped to be a relaxed meal over a couple bottles of wine, turned into a cramped table slammed with plates and glasses. I guess the key is to go on slow night to ensure a leisurely attentive meal.

The food was completely bland. Then bland turned to bitter when the check came. I got the pumpkin and goat cheese croquettes, which were fine, yet had the eerie feeling of being reheated from perhaps the previous night Then came the scallops with apples; scallops didn't taste like anything, nor did the sauce, and there were just a few slivers of apples on the plate. The bread pudding came for dessert, but yet again, it was so unspecial that I found myself wondering that maybe I missed all the good dishes on the menu. For the prices of these small tapas plates, boring should not be an option. The service was alright, a little tightly wound. There are much much much better tapas places in New York, price AND food wise.

I had to book a table a month in advance and could only get at 10:30 pm seating for two. The service was horrendous--rude, inattentive and snotty. I feel like the dancer-cum-waiter was trying to do his best "New York waiter" attitude. The food was OK. Nothing to write home about. Nothing Spanish about it. Skip it!

Always wanted to eat @Casa Mono & was so so very disappointed in the staff. It's possible that a waiter could be less friendly and more self absorbed than the one I had tonight, but I don't see how. Management was equally to blame, and we were sitting at the bar, not even TAKING UP A TABLE! Forget price or quality of food or ambience or anything else...who wants to be someplace where you feel unwelcome?

I had been here a few times before several years ago and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn't "all that" this time around. We sat at the bar (which only has about 8 sets) but the bartender was not very attentive. Food was good but, portion size to price ratio was ridiculously out of whack. With so many other great places to eat in the area, I probably wouldn't return.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
- If it's helpful to compare one place to another, go for it.
- Come up with clever, funny, pithy subject lines, and write in the first person.
- Don't forget to read the user rating guidelines and rules.
