The waitstaff once your seated @ the table is great...very attentive and quick. The people at the front however [attending to the phone and the ones that seat you] are really bad. They are just the right level of rude [i.e. not rude enough for you to walk out, but miles away from welcoming and nice]. The food is OK...nothing special. There are plenty of tapas restaurants with more room, nicer staff, better menu, tastier food, and less expensive. I would not go back.

the seating was so cramped that it was uncomfortable. but my biggest complaint: the food just wasn't good. there are so many better places nearby. go somewhere else.

i had a terrible experience at casa mono... waited for 55 minutes for a confirmed reservation... then we asked for 2 additional chairs for some friends that joined us and they didn t allow them to stay although the room, at that time, was empty. the food was below average and we were still hungry at the end of the meal!

I wonder why Casa Mono has even a Michelin Star (maybe the food makes up for the terrible service?) New York has plenty of good places for Catalan food and I am quite sure Mono Casa cannot sustain itself in the long run with such terrible service. The "manager" was simply rigid and kept on talking about the "policy" of Mono Casa _ we had a party of seven (originally five) and we requested if he could "so kindly" move 3 tables into a long table - he said the policy is NOT to move any tables. We watched him seat 6 people in 3 small tables. We then asked if we could split up - he said the policy is NOT to let a party of over 6 people have 2 tables becaue he expect the place will get BUSY. Then we requested if we can sit at the bar if we split into 2 groups. He said we are not allowed to talk to our friends who are seated at the table because that would be disruptive. This place actually invites customers to WALK AWAY. Please think twice before u make a booking, why not go to Olives which is just next door?

It's very sad, but true. Casa Mono has jumped the shark. I've been going here for years and refused to believe the terrible reviews. Even when my sister, a loyal patron, warned me against dining their for my birthday, I proceeded with much regret. The food was bad - poorly seasoned, luke warm, not very inventive. The service was awful - rude and obnoxious. Our waiter kept trying to pressure my boyfriend and I to order more tapas and wine. Save yourself the time, money, and aggravation and skip it. Time for Mario to stop traveling around with Gwenyth and spend some time at his restaurants

We arrived to Casa Mono last night and were greeted by at least four waiters in 5 minutes that said someone will be right with us. When a hostess finally approached she was extremely rude and not at all accomodating. Never again

We were a party of 6....the noise was sooo loud we had two complete conversations...North and South we could not communicate to the whole table. The waiter insisted we order all 12 tapas at once...so goes grazing!!?? place was so crowded and close. Get me outter here! Frank Malone Palos Verdes, Ca. NEVER AGAIN
