I have been going to Casellula regularly for the past few months and was so surprised when I read all of the negative reviews. I absolutley adore this cute little wine bar. The cheese selection is amazing, as is everything else on the menu. The ricotta crostinis and the endive salad are personal favorites. The waitstaff is friendly and I have never had a negative experience with them. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes wine and cheese!

I have mixed feelings re Caselulla. It has always been a default place - if I was ever in Hell's Kitchen and wanted a glass of wine and a quick snack or just wanted to spend an hour sitting on the bar, I'd go there. It's a very nice space, and the wine list is "funky" and extensive, however they do have a rather high markup (for example, a Malbec that costs about $10 was on the wine list for $40 at the time) and a very limited by-the-glass selection. When I did end up going there on a Saturday night it was usually on rainy days, when other places were packed and I didn't feel like going downtown - there is a good chance a party of 2-4 will find a table on a Sat night after 10:00pm. The cheeses are very good and served with matching condiments which are surprising, although the portions are small. The meat platter used to be better a while back, we constantly needed to ask for more bread (which was dry), but server was nice and accommodating. Desserts were ok, not more.

I have been to Casellula several times over the past year, but I will NEVER GO AGAIN after I finally realized that the service is unforgivably terrible. I have always enjoyed the food and wine selections but I can no longer overlook how rude and inconsiderate the staff is (which has not changed in several years despite many negative reviews and complaints on the internet!). When one pays a 300-400% markup for wine and $14 for four spoonfuls of macaroni and cheese, one should expect at a minimum courteous service! Do not be fooled by other reviews that simply focus on the wine and food—you will regret you ever stepped foot inside Casellula (unless, of course, you enjoy being treated like an annoyance).

The selection of cheese here is enough to satisfy any cheesemonger and the wine list is amazing. We went knowing we wanted cheese and just asked for what they felt was the best out of 4 categories (goat, blue, hard, and semi-soft) and they picked the best choices, and even suggested a wine for us. Not disappointed at all, wish we could have stayed longer but had a show to catch. Adorable, intimate spot.

I absolutely adore this place. I have been several times and each time, Casellula never disappoints. The food is creative and the cheese pairings are unlike anywhere else I have ever been. Casellula also has the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had in my life. Other great dishes I have tried are the biscuits with chorizo gravy, the short ribs sandwich, the pigs ass sandwich and the mac and cheese!

I live around the corner from this wine bar. I love the ambiance, food and service. It's chic but comfortable -- a difficult accomplishment. I've taken several friends (locals and tourists), and the reviews are unanimously positive.

Fantastic little exposed-brick Hell's Kitchen spot for anyone in loooove with cheese and all of its derivatives. The wait can range from 5 mins to 1 hour, but it's well worth any time spent sipping wine or champagne at the bar. As our wait for a table took a bit on the longer side (crowded Thurs evening) the owner came up to us and topped off our wine glasses - quite the personal touch!
Delectable sweet pairings bring out the subtleties of each flavor of cheese. The grilled cheese sandwich is a blend of 4 cheeses - a must for those of you looking for a more sophisticated take on one of your childhood favorites. As for dessert, you cannot go wrong with the delicious chocolate cake paired with fresh cream - as full as we were, we enjoyed every bit of it.
All in all, a fantastic experience for cheese-lovers (and wine lovers to boot!). This has quickly become one of my favorite little spots in NYC - certainly a great weekday and late night spot, and great for a date or intimate dinner with a couple of friends.

The hostess was so unaccomodating, and we were not a high-maintenence party! She was unwelcoming and a complete snob. We left and went to another restaurant where they were perfectly amicable. I will NEVER go to Casellula, and I recommend you take your business elsewhere!!!

Took the wife out for a nice little date to Casellula. I have to say, we were both very pleased with the overall experience. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is a little small, but we had a table so who cares. The wine was fantastic, and our cheese was nicely paired and presented. In fact, the chef came out personally and explained each cheese to us individually. We also tried some pickles and cured meats that were also exceptional. I would definitely recommend and go back.

I went there last night but the woman in the kitchen was laughably rude and arrogant.
I have never posted a restaurant review before, but I just could not resist this one.
