Kale ceasar salade was a box of kale, and thats it. The goat cheese salade was a little peace of goat cheese and. Guess what.. A bunch of kale... If you decide to go there, make sure to not be hungry cause portions are tiny and salades are a joke. We did liked the salmon tartar tho (since we were still hungry after all the green), but for the price we paid we could have a heavy diner for 3 at Westville. Avoid.

Thursday Night Burlesque at Casimir

I love the city’s culinary diversity and it’s many bars and restaurants. I have my favorites I always come back to, backup favorites for the times I’m indecisive, and new places I look forward to trying. For example, Casimir, a quiet French bistro staple in New York’s East Village, has always been my backup favorite, but it’s recent acquisition and new management by Mario Carta has brought it back on the map as a place du jour, and my current staple. Every trip to Casimir is a tiny trip to Paris, not just for the authentic French vibe, but for the excellent food. This adorable bistro is located far off the path of hipsters, tourists, and the glamourati. It is like Balthazar, but without the pushy crowds; like L’Express, but more authentic; like Cafe Luxembourg, but more chill. Do you get where I’m going with this? Casimir has become by bistro a la mode for any occasion, especially on Thursday nights, when I want to begin my weekend early with a glamorous Burlesque show, staged in the center of the restaurant. Come with me, wine and dine on some of the best French bar food in the city, and stay for the titillating show, which is not only exotic and seductive, but still so friendly and elegant. Bring a date, bring your friends, bring your parents – everyone will enjoy the cheeky and fun acts by some of the most beautiful girls you’ll see outside the strip clubs (bedaubing!) Recommended: Terrine De Foie Gras Steak Tartare Duck Confit or Flank steak

I'm a bit late in writing this review, however, about 8 to 10 of my friends and I showed up without a reservation one evening a couple months ago and the waitstaff was more than happy to accommodate us. The red and white wines were delicious and they certainly kept flowing. We ordered almost everything on the menu between all of us and passed dishes around the table. EVERYTHING was amazing and flavorful, truly authentic French cuisine (hard to come by in NYC, surprisingly)!!! And someone thought it was a good idea to order two French Onion Soups to dip our bread in... Yes, a very good idea that was, indeed. The carpaccio was beautiful, the filet mignon was perfectly cooked, and the sausages (oh my god, so good). Also, Casimir offers half portions, so it's perfect for a late-night "snack" if you're not trying to get too full before you go out! I highly recommend this place! In fact, I am going there tonight, which is what prompted my review! Enjoy!

Loved my evening at casimir with my boyfriend last night... We came in around 6.30pm in a quiet restaurant with nice candle light, a great afro jazz ambience and had a drink at the bar. They have a great selection of wines by the glass and a wonderful charcuterie plate that we shared with some nice bread and chips that they make. As we were going out to attend a show, dishes for the restaurant started to come out, it looked and smelled so good that we decided to come back for dinner after the show. when we came back, around 10.30pm, the restaurant was alive! Same candle light, same great music maybe more funky, but not as quiet! WE had a blast and enjoyed everything, the food, the funny waitress, the wine! oh yes the wine! We shared a bunch of mini plates, great deal and delicious! We particularly loved the salmon tartare, the frisee salad, the steak frite and the monkfish brochette. We then had a dessert, i had a tasty chocolate cake and my husband enjoyed the cassis sorbet! By the way, try to use the bathroom in the lounge, they are not as dark!!!!!

Great dinner at Casimir with my visiting family on thursday night. My father has a hard time to walk and everybody was very helpful, from the bus boy to the manager. We all had a great time and very much enjoyed the food. We were glad we came early to enjoy the prix fixe (a very good deal for the choices and quality) and left early enough so we did not have to mind the party crowd coming in! I know i'll go back with friends for my upcoming birthday since the manager told us that they organized parties in the lounge area free of charges!!!!!!!

Chilly evening last monday around Tompkins square, unless you decide to go for diner with your 2 children at Casimir. We entered the quiet and warm restaurant to be nicely welcome by a rythmic Fela song that already warmed up my entire body! (love the music repertoire at casimir). Guillaume, the owner, who is very attentive, suggested me to have the prix fixe menu ($19) for me and the mini plate for the children. We were all delighted..... the children, well, they had a tasty mini burger for $7.5 (I would have preferred they'd chosen something maybe more french like casimir's marvelous duck confit or maybe a "steak tartare", particularly good there) and i savoured a peppery homemade country pate with a nice red Cote du rhone wine (their wine list is great and cheap!), followed by a tender braised organic chicken served with potatoes and squash, perfect for winter.... we were done at 7 so the children were in bed by 8! Great evening to be redone!

good food, good atmosphere, and one of the best gardens in town. servers can be a little 'holier-than-thou' but don't let him/her take away from a good meal.

This restaurant is one of my faves and is always consistent for steak frites and escargots. I like the room, the food, the decor and the wine list and if you had a hard time here then you probably don't belong in the first place! To be honest, this is one of the very few places I go back to on a regular basis.

This place is gigantic and has a warm and cozy ambiance. I went her with my date. The bartender took great care of us, checking in constantly to make sure everything was fine. We ordered dessert, wine and a cocktail. The wine list is impressive and a good price point for the quality. The Tart Tartine is one of the best that I have ever had. The apple was fresh and soaked in an incredible tasty sauce. I plan to go back for dinner next time.

I will count myself lucky that the two times I have been to Casimir I have been more than pleased given my fellow reviewers' comments. The first visit was on an excruciatingly hot and humid day mid summer. Sitting right by the door, mid-afternoon, my date and I sipped chilled white wine from heavily condensated glasses under the breeze of a ceiling fan listening to Eric Satie. Went back the following spring for dinner fully prepared to be let down from my heat-induced, lethargic state of euphoria from previous encounter and was not disappointed. Yes, the bartender with his alluring eyes and dark curled locks could not have been more self important as I am sure he fancies himself a rock star in his spare time. However, after having enjoyed sketching him in all his glory, our server was suffice, the food was delicious and the maitre de' played Eric Satie for me as I cracked into my creme brulee. Window seat a pleasure, and I hope for more fodder for the sketch book and savory dishes for the palette on my return.
