Good Food, Nasty Service
By Clinton_Hillster on 10/17/2006
I have tried again and again to have a good time at Chez Oskar. The bottom line is the service is generally terrible. The food is good; good burgers, good mussels, everything is good. Even the management seems decent, but the servers are terrible. Everytime I have visited, the servers were not only unattentive, but just plain rude. The worst example happened when I did not receive all of my order. The server responded (read snapped), "Your meal only cost $10, what do you expect?!" I have dined there 4 times hoping for a better experience and will never return.

The burger was ok. The Pate was very good however the rabbit was over cooked.

I Want To Live Here!
By sgreer on 11/29/2006
I love the vibe, the diversity, the staff who seem like family, and lastly-but foremost- I dig the food! What more can one ask for? The first time I ate here, I told everyone I knew about it until they begged me to change the subject.....
Steak Au Poive

That and the Tuna Tartar. Mayor Bloomberg came in and ate while I was having dinner! The waiters and waiters are a pleasure too! Maya and Angelique are too of the best in all of New York! And with Rachel behind the bar, I one can't go wrong!
great food, good service, nice atmosphere but kind of expensive

the food was great. you better order a lamb or beef, they do it the best. however, as it is for most french restaurants, it is kind of expensive for someone on the budget. if you prefer, you can have a sit outside. a good place to take a date, and enjoy french food.

This is one of the restaurants that made me think about moving to Fort Greene. Been there for brunch, dinner - never disappointed. Great place to take a date, a friend, family - a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.
Best Brooklyn Bistro!

Chez Oskar was and is the most amazing experience not even including the outstanding food and great customer service! Its the complete package and truly the best 1st choice to dine in any occasion. Walking in they have mastered a warmth and an at home feeling The wait staff are really nice and attentive. I ordered the New York Grilled Salmon (medium-well), Garlic Mash potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. The salmon was grilled and seasoned to perfection and mash Potatoes so moist. Ive never even eaten Brussel Sprouts and they were so tasty, I loved it!
The best place in Brooklyn

Chez Oskar is indeed a secret that needs to be exposed. The Oven Roasted Cod Fish Fillet, Grilled Atlantic Salmon, and Domestic Lamb Shank are the best dishes I have had in a long time, and I dine out at nice places often. The decor is beautiful and the customer service makes you feel like no one else is in the restaurant when there is always a diverse crowd with multicultural music playing softly in the background. A great place for friends, family, dates, or to dine in alone. Now they offer take out and delivery so I can't wait to try these services!
