Ruined by upper management!

I've been coming to Chola once/twice each week for the past EIGHT years and have recommended the restaurant to many friends. Unfortunately upper management is making cost cuttings that are ruining this once great restaurant. The restaurant used to have one of the best lunch buffets in the city - but that is all gone now. They have cut the number of dishes they offer in HALF despite increasing the price in the last year. The number of vegetarian options has been cut to just three dishes. The food is still good and the regular staff is great, but upper management does not seem to recognize the little they save with their cost cutting will cost them multiple times over in lost customers. Hopefully they will wake up and bring the restaurant back to the way it used to be.

An Array of Cuisines From India

The lunch buffet is the best I've ever had. They serve more than enough food including bringing side dishes to your table and dosai. It was spicy enough for a fan of hot food like me. The atmosphere is wonderful and tastefully decorated. There are enough attentive waiters to go around. I highly recommend this place.

Decent Indian food

I've been on the hunt for south Indian food in NY for ages. Most places only offer north indian cuisine. Chola's selection of south Indian (and north) was excellent. The rice idli was delish (maybe because i've been craving it for ages) and the dosa was respectfully huge. things that the menu said were spicy were actually a bit spicy, though still not as spicy as some might like it. Everything was delicious and served in a timely manner and the staff were quite pleasant. Though the prices are a bit high, not for the area, but still it can add up quickly.

Some of the best Indian food in the city!

We went two nights in a row, and we don't live nearby! The dishes are nicely prepared, service is pleasant and professional, and the menu has a wide variety of choices. They give you papadum and sauces to start, a nice accompaniment to the really cold beer we had (also a good variety), then we moved on with delicious garlic nan and regular nan, tasty vegetables and well seasoned (though not too hot) meat dishes. We were very happy.
