Seven Years @ Chow Bar!

Moved to NYC 7+ years ago and stumbled upon this place nestled in that crazy area of the Village where the street names barely matter. You just gotta know how to get there. I hit Chow Bar once ever other week or so. Food and service are consistently amazing. Have had just about everything on the menu. The staff is beyond friendly. :) Try these dishes: -Barbecued spareribs, Honey Plum Glazed and Toasted Sesame -Pan Fried Prawns in a Golden Curry Sauce with crispy spinach -Sake Steamed Fish chinese black bean sauce and stir fry garlic choy greens -BBQ Pork sandwich -(Shh...off menu!) chocolate wontons w green tea ice cream!! mmm

I have been frequenting this place for years and the food, atmosphere, drinks and excellent staff, help make this eatery one of the best I have ever experienced. Plus Danielle is the most gorgeous hostesses ever! Get a sitter and leave your children at HOME. The honey plum spare ribs are a MUST. This place rocks been going for about a year loving the whole time and all bars are dealing w/ costs. They are delivering MORE. DJ spinning to make you jump after hours. The food is the best.....keep on rolling CHOW BAR

4/18/07: This bar used to be a good value, but the owner's just raised their drink prices 20%, to $12 a pop, so with tip = $14. Chow Bar is not such a good bar now.

great restaurant, really exemplifies the best of NY, I'm from LA,wish we had a place like this,,,the ribs are the best, eating at the bar is my preference, tables are ok, good drinks, seems to attract a hip/ecelectic, but not stuffy crowd, I want to thank the guys at the shoe store nearby for turning me on to this restaurant and all I wanted was a drink,,,,had great fun the first time there as well as the 2nd and 3rd, it s a must go to place when I'm in New York!!!

Went with a friend and sat outside and altough the bench was a little uncomfortable and we were close to other diners we had a wonderful time, could speak easily, with great food and martinis.

Our waiter was attentive. The food came out quickly. Chow Bar's food is definitely a cut above (or two) most Chinese fare. All of our dishes were uniformly excellent. The decor is quite soothing, although the loud techno music is not for all tastes. [Note: this was a "slow night", albeit a Saturday night. The kitchen closed early and we barely made it in the door in time to get our order in at 11pm. You might want to call ahead to make sure they are keeping regular kitchen hours. To their credit though, the staff did not make us feel unduly rushed.]

Exellent food, great deals, little too noisy for converstions at time. I enjoiy eating at the bar.
