We went on the afternoon of Valentine's Day at about 3 PM. We were seated quickly with a nice upstairs table overlooking the Jazz trio. Nice table, nice music. The restaurant was not crowded, only about half the tables were taken. It took about 25 minutes for Jack L, our waiter to show. He apologized for taking so long, We placed or full order with appetizers, drinks and dinner. Appetizers were the popcorn scallops and the buffalo shrimp. Brought by in decent time, but not by Jack. There was no bread at our table, but others had it, not a big deal. The main meal came, crusted horseradish salmon and rock shrimp with spinach and penne. Delicious food. The only time I saw Jack again was after I put my credit card on the table before getting the bill. I was tired of waiting for Jack. Food was great, Jack sucked. He never checked on us or took a second drink order.

Yeah, I have to agree with the previous reviewers. The food was just so-so, certainly not worth what they're charging. The service was terrible as well. Do yourself a favor and walk to Union Square to eat.

I went here on Saturday night with my boyfriend only to have a horrible experience. The mussel appetizer was fishy tasting, the crab cake tasted like there was no crab. My salmon was raw in the middle - not the way a salmon filet should be served. Just bad food all around. Would not tell anyone to go here.

This South Park Avenue seafood establishment has many positives: decor; value and overall food. The crabcakes are as close to real Maryland carbcakes as one can achive. Unfortunately the service does not match the other positives.

When my friend suggested going to City Crab for a $19.99 lobster bake special I was kind of hesitant. I was pleasantly surprised to have a 1 1/2 lobster with clams, mussels, potatoes, and corn for less than twenty bucks. We ordered fantastic bloody marys and dessert was really good. Prices are comprable to Red-Lobster, without the freezerburn aftertaste and the franchise cheesie-ness. We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly and I'll certainly be back there in the future.

The place is nice, went there a few pmonths ago and was OK. Last week it was terrible, over $100 per head for a siple so so meal with little wine. It is the most outrageous price value ratio. Never again.

The worst food I've ever eaten in Manhatten and I eat out weekly. Horrible seafood that is not fresh. Nasty preparation and accompaniments. Very overpriced. Our waiter pressured us to pay bill so he could leave! Go to Tabla, Union Square Cafe, Mesa Grill, Blue Water Grill, or any of a dozen other exceptional restaurants in the area if you want to spend this much for lunch.

This place is horrendous--I don't understand why is it busy and it is the Worst food in NYC. Been here 2 times (gave it a second try for my boyfriend who didn't believe me).. First time my sister dared to eat the raw "oysters" and got violently ill.. Second time my boyfriend got the lobster and it came out oily and shiny and greasy--it tasted like oily, shiny, greasy lobster and made me sick. The drinks were gross too.. Please go to Aquagrill/Blue Water for a pleasant experience at the same $$.

I've been to City Crab a lot and every time I ask myself why did I come back? It's not like the food is bad, it's just average. The seafood selection is okay. If you like crab, you're in luck. But if you are looking for any other fish, I suggest looking some where else. The salad's to start are small and not good. The mixed salad is bitter, with little to no dressing. The mussels are decent, that's what I always get. I've had friends that love the fish salad. It's healthy and tasty. Too pricey for the quality and service you get. Wait staff is often young and too busy to check on your tables. Not one of my favorites.

While the food was good, and the service was great, the atmosphere was slightly shlocky. That is the only thing that could prevent me from returning.
